Aggression against Iran would entail ‘serious destabilization’: Kremlin

TEHRAN — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov issued a sharp warning on Monday, stating that any military strike against the Islamic Republic would result in a “serious destabilization” of the Middle East.

Addressing reporters, Peskov characterized the prospect of an attack as “another step toward serious destabilization of the situation in the region,” stressing that Moscow expects all international parties to show restraint and resolve differences exclusively through “peaceful negotiations.”

The Kremlin’s remarks follow recent reports of U.S. naval movements in the region.

This stance builds on earlier statements from the Russian Foreign Ministry after the recent wave of unrest in Iran, which condemned “subversive external interference” in Iranian internal affairs and labeled threats of military force as “categorically unacceptable.”

Moscow has previously cautioned that those attempting to use domestic unrest as a pretext for repeating the “aggression against Iran committed in June 2025” must be aware of the “disastrous consequences” for global international security.

Additionally, Peskov said that Iran’s defense cooperation with Russia and China will “continue at full capacity.”

Analysts view this trilateral engagement and the stability of the Islamic Republic as a vital component of the regional security architecture.
