Iran facing US and not thoughtless individuals

TEHRAN – The Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s remarks at a gathering of a number of people from Qom marking the historic January 9th, 1979 uprising, came after a night of unrest in Tehran and several other cities across the country.

The unrest, which began with some protests over livelihood and economic difficulties, once again—as in previous instances—was deviated from its proper path. Rioters damaged public and private property, resulting in losses and casualties.

However, the Islamic Republic will not miscalculate in facing this scene. The true counterpart and adversary of this country and its nation is not a bunch of "inexperienced, heedless, and thoughtless individuals." In fact, our true counterpart and real enemy is America. An America that is more unmasked than ever before, openly and explicitly declaring its intentions, chief among them plundering other countries’ resources. This arrogant and domineering nature has become so blatant and unbridled that it even threatens and covets the allies and friends alike.

If yesterday it was the oil and other resources of Venezuela that were coveted, today it is a part of European soil. This has caused serious concern and reflection among America's closest allies and friends in Europe—who for decades have been aligned and complicit with Washington's arrogant and colonial policies.

From the very beginning of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979, the Americans have tried at great cost and through extensive psychological and media operations to propagate the narrative, both in Iran and globally, that the challenge between Tehran and Washington stems from Iran's policies, portraying Iran as a rebellious and hostile country that should be sanctioned and threatened.

But today, no rational and fair-minded person can deny the reality that Iran and its noble people's only fault is that they wish to be independent and refuse to live under the yoke of foreign domination. The imposed eight-year war against Iran in the 1980s and the 12-day war in June 2025 were the price paid for this desire.

The enemy that martyred over a thousand Iranians in the 12-day war, showing no mercy even to women and children, now claims compassion and support for the people.

Of course, such audacity is not unexpected from the Americans. On Wednesday, when an innocent woman was killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis that prompted large-scale demonstration and the American ruling establishment has explicitly justified the crime, they are drawing red lines for Iran, warning it not to stand firm to guard its own security. Iranians have witnessed the outcome of America's false compassion and interventions in other countries, which have left nothing but ruin and slaughter in their wake.

An Iran that has not bowed to the arrogant powers of the world and villain criminals on earth, despite all their wealth, force, and claims, will undoubtedly overcome this turmoil. Another defeat will be recorded in the ledger of those who dream of bringing this nation to its knees.
