West seeking securitization of Iran case, says MP

West seeking securitization of Iran case, says MP

TEHRAN, (MNA) – Member of the Iranian Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee said that the West by raising the issue of human rights parallel to the nuclear issue in the IAEA is seeking securitization of the Iranian case.

Referring to the Human Rights Council resolutions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Rezaee said in an interview with Mehr News Agency that the issue should be viewed from two aspects.

“ّFirst, such an action is in line with the policy of putting pressure on Iran initiated in the last two months,” said Rezaee. “By adopting a pressure policy on Iran, the West intends to force Iranians to make concessions on the issues available on the nuclear talks table."

“Second, the intention of the West is the securitization of the Iran case. The West, by raising the issue of human rights parallel to the nuclear case in IAEA, is seeking securitization of Iran's case in different realms including increasing investing risk in Iran and harming the security of corridors," noted the Iranian member of the Parliament.

Rezaee said, “The fact that 25 countries have voted for the resolution against Iran and 22 have voted against or declined to vote for it, indicates that firstly, the Americans have lost their authority in consensus building in international arenas, and secondly that the meeting lectures showed that many have come to realize the nature of US and western manners and are upset by their double standard approach on human rights."

He also pointed out that the experience of cooperating with the IAEA during the past years has indicated that these agencies do not possess a legal or technical approach of their own but completely follow western policies in their decisions.

Stressing the fact that Iran definitely will not allow the intervention of their chosen Fact-finding Committee, Rezaee clarified that Iran will constitute a national Fact-finding Committee for the recent events within the country and solve internal issues by resorting to internal capacities.

Universities of Tehran, Sharif on h-index list

TEHRAN – The University of Tehran University, with a score of 189, and the Sharif University of Technology, with a score of 179, are among the top universities in the Hirsch Index released by Web of Science.

The h-index was developed by J.E. Hirsch and published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America in 2005, which reflects the productivity of authors based on their publication and citation records.

It is based on a list of publications ranked in descending order by the Times Cited. The value of h is equal to the number of papers (N) in the list that has N or more citations. This metric is useful because it discounts the disproportionate weight of highly cited papers or papers that have not yet been cited.

The h-index reflects the productivity of authors based on their publication and citation records. There are 58 Iranian universities on the list, among which, Tehran University and the Sharif University of Technology placed first and second, followed by Tarbiat Modares University.

The index shows the quality of scientific outputs and research productivity at the level of universities and research and technology institutions of the country.

Also, according to the 2022 list of Highly Cited Researchers revealed by Clarivate, 12 Iranian researchers are among the most cited researchers.

Earlier in November, the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database listed 841 Iranian researchers among the top one percent of most cited researchers in the world.

The highest number of researchers were included in the engineering category amounting to 229 scientists, followed by clinical medicine with 140, and the multidisciplinary category with 150 people.

On October 26, Stanford University listed 1,870 Iranian researchers among the top 2 percent of the most-cited scientists in the world, which has grown significantly compared to past years.

Despite U.S. sanctions, the international activities of Iranian scientists have increased year by year, so that more than 35 percent of Iranian articles in Scopus have been multi-national projects, the deputy science minister, Peyman Salehi, has said.

Science diplomacy is the use of scientific collaborations among nations to address common problems and build constructive international partnerships.

In 2021, Iranian scientists published more than 77,000 scientific articles in the Scopus database, ranking 15th worldwide.

The country also ranked 15th and 16th in the world in terms of scientific references.

Stop arming Kiev otherwise no talks, Zakharova warns US

Stop arming Kiev otherwise no talks, Zakharova warns US

TEHRAN, (MNA) – Russia is not going to discuss the New START Treaty with the United States as long as Washington keeps arming Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned on Wednesday.

"The United States is planning to send more weapons to the region of the conflict in which Russia has been involved. So, they will keep supplying all those arms and goad the Kyiv regime into committing more bloodshed, while allocating funds for extremist activities conducted under the authority of individuals on Bankovaya Streat who are far from being rational people, while we sit down to discuss mutual security issues with them, including those in their interests?" she told Sputnik radio.

According to the Russian diplomat, Moscow highly appreciates the New START Treaty which she said meets the mutual interests of Russia and the US, but appropriate conditions must be in place to discuss it, she insisted.

On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced its decision to postpone a meeting of the Bilateral Consultative Commission under the Russia-US New START Treaty originally scheduled to take place in Cairo on November 29 - December 6.

12m tons of Russian goods to transit via Iran to India

12m tons of Russian goods to transit via Iran to India

TEHRAN, (MNA) – Following India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar's visit to Moscow in November, Russia and Iran have agreed to allow the passage of 12 million tons of Russian goods via Tehran.

The goods will be transported through the International North-South Transportation Corridor. The decision has come as a result of the efforts of Russia and India to increase goods trade and boost economic partnership, especially amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, Asian News International reported on Tuesday.

An agreement was reportedly signed by Iran’s Deputy Transport and Urban Development Minister for Transportation Affairs Shahriar Afandizadeh and Russia’s Deputy Minister of Transportation Dmitry Zverev.

After the agreement was signed, the first freight train arrived at Iran's Sarakhs in Khorasan Razavi Province near the border of Turkmenistan and this marked the official launch of the eastern section of INSTC.

The train, carrying 39 containers of goods, left Chekhov on July 6 and traveled 3,800 km through Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan before entering Iran. This train will carry the containers to Bandar Abbas in southern Iran and then head for India's Nhava Sheva Port via seaways.

In July, Iran and Russia had signed an agreement for transiting 10 million tons of Russian goods through Iran. The transit of Russian goods crossing Tehran was also addressed in Jaishankar's visit to Moscow.

“We discussed ways of expanding and diversifying our cooperation, moving beyond traditional areas,” he said.

“The promotion of inter-regional cooperation has been a key priority for us, particularly with the Russian Far East. We also discussed enhancing connectivity, including through the International North-South Transportation Corridor as well as the Chennai-Vladivostok Eastern Maritime Corridor. I updated [Russian Foreign] Minister [Sergey] Lavrov and deputy PM [Denis] Manturov on India's flagship initiatives, including Atmanirbhar Bharat, i.e., self-reliant India and Make in India, that can serve as platforms for a more contemporary economic relationship between our two countries,” as per the press statement from India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

Such goods consignment will surely boost trade relations with Russia, which has been a long-time trade partner.

World Cup shows how world hates Israel, supports Palestine

TEHRAN, (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani condemned the recent atrocities by the Zionist Israeli regime against Palestinians in West Bank, adding the Qatar World Cup shows how the world despises the apartheid regime.

"The #2022_Football_World_Cup in #Qatar has become an exhibition that shows how the public opinion detests the #Zionist_apartheid_regime and also shows nations' solidarity with the #Palestine cause," the Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said in a post on his Twitter account in Farsi language.

"The normalization agreement with some Arab governments has by no means eliminated the Arab nations' hatred towards Israel," he also noted.

"The occupying regime of Israel is detested by nations," Kan'ani further underscored.

Also in another post, the spokesman pointed to the martyrdom of five Palestinian youths in the West Bank in less than 24 hours by the fake Israeli regime, "The lying advocates of human rights have been supporting a racist, terrorist and occupying regime for more than 7 decades, which has not only committed blatant violations of #human_rights but also has committed genocide against the #Palestinian nation!"

Iran deserved at least a draw against US

TEHRAN, (MNA) – Iran coach Carlos Queiroz said Team Melli deserved at least a draw against the American squad after their 1-0 defeat on Tuesday.

Following the match against the US, the Portuguese coach said he was proud of his players and their hard work on the pitch.

In the second half, Iran took possession of the ball and created more chances than the United States did in the first half and the team deserved to score at least a goal, Queiroz said.

The Iranian team was punished for not finding the back of the net in the game despite several attempts to this end, the manager noted.

Mozambique-born coach Queiroz, 69, who led Iran at the World Cup in both 2014 and 2018, coached the team in Qatar, where they faced England, Wales, and the United States in Group B at the tournament.

The Iranian squad said goodbye to the World Cup by gaining three points (one win and two losses) as well as scoring four goals and receiving seven goals.

China firmly supports Palestinian people's just cause

TEHRAN, (MNA) – Saying that his country firmly supports the Palestinian people's just cause of restoring their legitimate national rights, the Chinese President called on the international community to prioritize solving the Palestine issue.

Xi Jinping extended congratulations to a UN meeting held on Tuesday to commemorate the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

In his message, Xi said the Palestinian issue is at the core of the Middle East issue, and a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian issue bears on regional peace and stability as well as international fairness and justice.

The international community should adhere to the two-state solution, prioritize the Palestinian issue on the international agenda, and help the Palestinian people realize their dream of an independent state at an early date, he said, Xinhua reported.

Xi emphasized that China consistently and firmly supports the Palestinian people's just cause of restoring their legitimate national rights, actively promotes peace talks, and promotes peace between Palestine and the Israeli regime.

He added that China supports the strengthening of the authority of the Palestinian National Authority and the enhancement of unity among all parties in Palestine.

No evidence that Iran wants to develop nuclear weapons

Russia

No evidence that Iran wants to develop nuclear weapons

TEHRAN, (MNA) – There is no evidence that Iran intends to develop nuclear weapons, reviewing its participation in the NPT, Vladimir Yermakov, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Non-Proliferation and Arms Control Department said.

"Iran has been and remains a conscientious participant in the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. The conclusion of the JCPOA in 2015 helped to finally and irrevocably remove all the questions that the [International Atomic Energy Agency] had to Tehran at that time," he told Sputnik.

"After that, for several years Iran remained the most verified state among agency members. No deviations from its obligations were identified," Yermakov said. "There is no evidence that would indicate Tehran's intention to ever reconsider its participation in the NPT and start developing a nuclear explosive device."

Although the International Atomic Energy Agency has shown in numerous reports that Iran's nuclear program is peaceful, the American and Zionist leaders claim that Iran's nuclear program is moving towards the production of nuclear weapons.

Tehran stresses that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes and there is a Fatwa by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran which bans any possession and use of weapons of mass destruction.

In memory of great Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh

The Americans used to call him the architect of the Iranian nuclear program. He was a symbol of Iran’s dignity and its fight against imperialism.

Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was born in 1957 in the Iranian central city of Qom, a holy city where he also finished his elementary and secondary education.

He received an MS degree in physics in 1987 from Tehran’s Shahid Beheshti University and a BS degree in nuclear engineering from the Isfahan’s University of Technology in 1993. Fakhrizadeh obtained his Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from Tehran’s Amir Kabir University in 2017. He was a lecturer in nuclear sciences at Tehran’s Imam Hossein University since 1997.

Martyr Fakhrizadeh had contributed to popular campaigns against the former regime of Shah in Iran before the 1979 Revolution. He expanded his revolutionary records by participating in the Sacred Defense against the Iraqi-imposed war on Iran in the 1980s.

He founded and chaired the Iranian defense ministry’s Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND) in 2010. He received an honor from the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei for his scientific services in 2019.

Fakhrizadeh was a great theorist in nuclear sciences and developed a roadmap for Iran’s nuclear program. He contributed to other major scientific projects in the country including developing a homemade coronavirus vaccine that helped Iran in its fight against the pandemic.

He was also deeply interested in human sciences and frequently studied Quranic verses, philosophy, and poetry. In a meeting with members of his family, Ayatollah Khamenei hailed Martyr Fakhrizadeh as a humble and unique person.

The United Nations Security Council Resolution 1747, passed on March 24, 2007, had listed him as one of the influential figures in efforts to develop Iran’s nuclear program.

Despite being relatively unknown in Iran and around the world, the United States and the Zionist regime of Israel had maintained his name on their terror lists for more than 20 years.

American magazine Foreign Policy once designated Fakhrizadeh in its list of 500 most powerful people in the world.

He was a symbol of Iran’s power and progress while his scientific efforts represented a spirit of humbleness and anti-imperialism ideology that exists in the Iranian science community.

For many years, the Zionist regime’s Mossad intelligence service had been after Fakhrizadeh, a figure who had been described by senior Zionist officials as the father of Iran’s nuclear program.

After a first plot to assassinate Fakhrizadeh failed in 2018, he was martyred in the second attempt on November 28, 2020, in an area to the east of Tehran by a group of Mossad agents who used technologically-complicated equipment to assassinate the grate Iranian scientist.
