Allama Sayyid Ali Fadlallah: Social solidarity is the way through crises

Allama Sayyid Ali Fadlallah, emphasizing that cooperation and mutual assistance are among the fundamental values of Islam and a factor in strengthening society against crises, called for strengthening popular and institutional support for the needy.

Allama Sayyid Ali Fadlallah, in remarks on the topic "Cooperation and Mutual Assistance; Society's Strength in Confronting Crises," said: "Cooperation is one of the fundamental values of Islam and empowers society to confront difficulties and crises."

Citing the verse "And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression," he emphasized: "Cooperate with one another in goodness and piety, and do not collude in sin and transgression.

Fadlallah considered cooperation to go beyond individual acts of assistance and said: "This culture must be institutionalized in society and encompass individuals, associations, and institutions." He added: "Members of society must come to each other's aid with their abilities and resources; the wealthy should help the needy, the knowledgeable should share their knowledge with others, and everyone should strive, to the extent of their capacity, to reduce people's suffering and hardship."

Fadlallah likened the community of believers to a solid structure and a single body whose members are affected by one another's suffering. Fadlallah added that supporting the needy, orphans, the oppressed, and those in distress, in addition to its social effects, has spiritual reward in religious teachings and is a way to attract divine mercy and unravel problems.

This religious scholar, in the political section of his remarks, expressed concern over the continuation of attacks and the destruction of infrastructure and public and social centers in southern Lebanon, and called on the country's government to review its options for the next stage, not to rely solely on negotiations, and to use its capacities to defend Lebanon's sovereignty and territory. He also emphasized strengthening the army and preserving internal unity.

Warning about the rise in prices of goods, fuel, and the costs of water, electricity, education, and healthcare, as well as the spread of unemployment and low wages, he called for price monitoring, combating hoarding, greater support for vulnerable groups, and a review of tax policies.

In conclusion, Fadlallah, referring to this verse: "And whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with God; it is better and greater in reward," honored the second anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyid Hashem Safi al-Din, and emphasized: "Loyalty to these martyred leaders and other martyrs is manifested in safeguarding Lebanon, and the unity, power, dignity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of this country."
