Mamosta Mahmoud Ibn al-Khayyat, while commemorating Sacred Defense Week and congratulating this occasion to officials and military and law enforcement forces, emphasized the role of Sunni scholars in supporting the Sacred Defense, Shia-Sunni unity, and vigilance against foreign threats and divisive conspiracies.

Mamosta Mahmoud Ibn al-Khayyat, the Friday prayer preacher of Saqqez, in an interview with the Taghrib News Agency (TNA), focusing on "The role of Sunni scholars in the Sacred Defense, the Muslim Kurdish Peshmerga, and Sunni clerical martyrs," stated: "The Iraqi Ba'ath regime attacked the soil of Islamic Iran in 1980 and imagined that it could conquer the country in a short time, but the Iranian people, by supporting the military forces, thwarted this goal."

Referring to the current conditions of the region, he said: "Today, too, the great powers have their eyes on the Middle East region and the capacities of the countries of this region, and in such conditions, the vigilance and preparedness of the people and the military and law enforcement forces is important."

The Friday Prayer Leader of Saqqez, emphasizing the necessity of avoiding carnal desires, arrogance, and negligence of divine piety, stated: "The Iranian nation and the country's military forces will defend the country and their land against any threat and aggression."

In another part of this interview, while commemorating the memory of Sunni clerical martyrs and Muslim Kurdish Peshmerga, he praised the role of Sunni scholars and clerics of Kurdistan province in enlightenment, strengthening Shia-Sunni unity, popular support for the fronts, and confronting divisive conspiracies.

Mamosta Ibn al-Khayyat, referring to the continuous threats of America and the Zionist regime and the enemies' efforts to create division among Muslims, emphasized the necessity of strengthening the Resistance Front, defending territorial integrity and national security, and neutralizing the enemies' conspiracies.

Addressing the scholars and elites of the Islamic world, he said: "In conditions where the enemies use every tool to weaken the Islamic Ummah, Sunni and Shia scholars must, with insight, unity, and enlightenment, play their historical role in defending Islam and confronting arrogance."

In conclusion, the Friday Prayer Leader of Saqqez once again congratulated Sacred Defense Week to the families of the martyrs, the self-sacrificing, the armed forces, and the martyr-nurturing people of Kurdistan, and emphasized the continuation of the path of the martyrs and the guardianship of the values of the Islamic Revolution.
