October 7 A Turning Point in Region’s History: Iran Parliament Speaker

IQNA – The speaker of Iran’s parliament described the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation on October 7, 2023 as a turning point in the history of the region.

October 7 A Turning Point in Region’s History: Iran Parliament Speaker

“We stand on the eve of the anniversary of the historic epic of October 7th—a fundamental turning point that divided the region’s history into the eras before and after it,” Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said during an open session of the parliament on Sunday.

“On October 7, valiant Palestinian mujahideen resolved to stand with honor and dignity, transforming the Zionists' illusion of hollow security into enduring fear.”

Ghalibaf continued, “In those very early days, the martyred Imam declared that the Zionist regime’s defeat on October 7 was irreparable. Today, with the passage of time, the dimensions of this precise strategic analysis have become clear to astute analysts.”

He further said that an irreparable defeat means that a regime which had portrayed itself as the aggrieved party for decades stands disgraced today in the eyes of global public opinion.

“This situation has complicated matters for arrogant powers seeking to continue their extensive material and moral support for the regime, and has cast serious doubt on its future prospects.”

The Iranian speaker added, “The pillars of this regime’s national security doctrine have collapsed and cannot be restored through any operation or budget allocation. A regime that for years claimed absolute deterrence and impenetrable intelligence capabilities is now trapped in a quagmire of attrition.”

He continued, “The regime's identity and security structures have crumbled; the foundation, shattered by bombardment and atrocities, is beyond repair. Even with unparalleled support from the United States, the regime has failed to recover from its defeat and is spiraling toward total destruction.”

In another part of his remarks, the speaker of the parliament addressed the US war of aggression against Iran, stating, “It is not just the Zionists who are mired in desperation and helplessness; the Americans, too, have been rendered desperate in the face of the Iranian nation’s steadfastness and resistance.”

He added, “The Americans have recently put forward proposals through intermediaries; yet, they must realize that the era of stalling for time and dictating unilateral demands has passed.”

Ghalibaf emphasized that the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran is entirely clear and definitive: “The Strait of Hormuz will not be opened until our seven conditions, based on the Islamabad Memorandum, are fulfilled.’

Noting that the US employs contradictory rhetoric to influence Iran's calculations, he said, “They are well aware of our frankness and decisiveness—having grasped it with every fiber of their being—yet, to deceive their own domestic public and the global community, they have ramped up their rhetoric and military threats alongside economic pressures and security measures; to the point where they sometimes adopt several contradictory positions in a single day.”

Concluding his remarks by emphasizing Iran’s strategy in confronting its adversaries, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly said, “Guided by a strategy of strength and rationality, we are neither swayed by excitement nor intimidated.”
