IQNA – The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) urged that Friday, October 2, 2026, be designated as a day of outrage at Israeli moves and support for the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, in light of escalating attacks on its sanctity and Islamic identity.

In a call to nations, organizations, political parties, and mosques across the Arab and Islamic worlds, the IUMS statement emphasized that Al-Aqsa Mosque is facing unprecedented assaults alongside organized efforts to alter its Islamic identity and transform it into a Jewish temple.
These efforts are being pursued through actions such as incursions, the holding of public and collective Jewish rituals, the enforcement of temporal division and attempts at spatial division, and the allocation of a portion of the mosque compound for exclusive Jewish use, it said.
The statement also highlighted attempts to undermine and paralyze the Islamic Waqf Administration—the body responsible for the mosque’s affairs, and replace it with the occupying regime’s police, institutions, and ministries, noting that such moves aimed at establishing these occupation entities as the primary authorities for the mosque’s management, renovation, and maintenance.
The statement was issued in a meeting attended by around 370 Arab and Islamic figures, including scholars, symbols, elites, and representatives of institutions and parties.
During the meeting, held to discuss developments in Al-Aqsa Mosque, the participants called for organizing broad events in support of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and dedicating next Friday as a day of popular interaction in support of the mosque, amid the escalation of Israeli incursions and attempts to impose new religious facts in it.
They called on peoples, parties, bodies, and leaders in the Arab and Islamic countries to shoulder their responsibilities toward the mosque, and to work to make Friday the peak of popular interaction in support of it.
The proposed events include organizing the so-called “Great Dawn”, by traveling and participating in the dawn prayer in mosques, followed by supplication, speeches, and organizing activities in support of those stationed at Al-Aqsa and Palestine.
The initiative also called for dedicating Friday sermons to talking about the status of Al-Aqsa Mosque and its reality, and the responsibility toward it, along with organizing movements, events, sit-ins, stands, and demonstrations rejecting the Israeli attacks on the Mosque, and in support of those stationed in it, in the Gaza Strip, and throughout Palestine.
The call comes amid the escalation of Israeli incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque, coinciding with the so-called Jewish "Sukkot," and the participation of Israeli officials in the incursions and the performance of Talmudic rituals and prayers in its courtyards, under heavy protection from the enemy police.
In recent days, the mosque has witnessed the introduction of religious rituals and symbols, including the so-called "four species," "plant offerings," and the "priestly blessing," amid Palestinian fears that these practices will turn from exceptional steps into a permanent reality leading to a change in the existing religious and historical status in the mosque.
