The President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS), Sheikh Ali al-Qaradaghi, has issued a stern condemnation of recent threats targeting Islamic holy sites, emphasizing the urgent need to protect the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

“Protecting this site, upholding its sanctity, and defending the rights of the Palestinian people is a religious, moral, and humanitarian responsibility,” the IUMS president stated. “It demands a clear and serious stance from both the Islamic Ummah and the international community.”
Sheikh al-Qaradaghi called upon leaders, governments, nations, intellectuals, and institutions across the Islamic world to assume their “historical responsibilities” regarding the protection of the Haramayn (the Two Holy Mosques) and the defense of Al-Aqsa.
He urged for unified, tangible action to safeguard the sanctity of these sites and preserve their revered status in the conscience of the Muslim world.
The scholar stressed that the defense of Islamic holy sites goes beyond the issuance of condemnation statements.
He urged the Muslim world to move toward practical, decisive measures aimed at preserving these holy places, protecting innocent lives, supporting Palestinian rights, and strengthening international efforts to ensure the security and sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The statement follows days of intensified Israeli raids against the al-Aqsa Mosque compound during the Jewish holiday season.
According to Palestinian media, while Israelis performed Jewish religious rituals and sang in violation of the status quo at the compound, Israeli restrictions on the entry of Palestinian Muslims continued.
