IQNA—A professor at the Academy of Political Science in Paris said Martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei was distinguished by his historical and political knowledge, wisdom, courage and comprehensive geopolitical vision.

Dr. Imad Al-Hamrouni in an interview explained the most important achievements of the years of leadership of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in realizing the independence of Iran and the Islamic world, strengthening unity, and supporting the Palestinian cause.
Emphasizing the martyred Leader’s historical and political knowledge, wisdom and courage, and his “comprehensive geopolitical vision,” Al-Hamrouni examined his role in the formation and expansion of the Axis of Resistance and the establishment of a balance of power in the region.
Al-Hamrouni also discussed the foundations of unity within Iran, the position of al-Quds and Palestine in the strategy of the Islamic world, and the intellectual and political legacy of the martyred Leader.
Comparing his martyrdom to the tragedy of Karbala, he explained the dimensions of his spiritual character, geopolitical rationality, and enduring legacy in the formation of the Axis of Resistance.
The full text of the interview is as follows
In your view, what achievements did the martyred leader of the Revolution’s approach have in realizing independence in the Islamic world?
First, I must say that the martyrdom of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the Leader of the Muslims, Imam Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with a number of his family members and some military commanders, bears a great resemblance to the tragedy of Karbala on the tenth of Muharram in the year 61 AH.
The martyrdom of our beloved Imam in this manner was a summary of the entire blessed course of his life, encompassing more than seven decades of struggle, knowledge and exemplary conduct in following the path of his teacher and mentor, Imam Khomeini.
Throughout his struggle, he remained committed to the slogan of the Islamic Revolution: “Independence, Freedom, Islamic Republic.” In all the positions and roles he assumed within the Revolution and state institutions, he tirelessly sought, first and foremost, to realize Iran’s full sovereignty and independence in all fields — military, cultural, industrial, political, scientific, agricultural and artistic — and, subsequently, to establish and support liberation movements throughout the world in defense of the freedom and independence of their peoples, particularly resistance movements in Palestine, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Iraq.
He sought to encourage and strengthen cultural diversity in Iran and took pride in Iran’s rich cultural and Persian heritage, thereby strengthening Iran’s global cultural presence and helping to break its isolation.
The martyred Imam possessed deep knowledge of Islamic history and contemporary political thought and was familiar with the major ideological and philosophical schools of the West, which helped him understand the foundations and objectives of colonial thinking. As we witnessed, Ayatollah Khamenei attached great importance to understanding the enemy and following its intellectual and geopolitical orientations.
How are the foundations of unity in the internal and external dimensions defined in the actions and strategies of the martyred leader?
Throughout his 37 years of blessed leadership, Ayatollah Khamenei adopted the principle of unity and coordination within Iranian society and ensured the participation of all currents and intellectual and political tendencies in the management of public affairs and the formulation of economic and political policies in a manner that preserved the unity and independence of the people.
He had great faith in Iranian youth and women, which was evident in the deep affection of the younger generations for their leader. Everyone witnessed the profound grief of the youth.
Our martyred Imam was distinguished by his compassion, kindness and mercy. He was truly one of the “servants of the Most Merciful,” as described in the Holy Quran in our modern era. His literary, intellectual and spiritual personality had a profound influence on his leadership and management, both domestically and internationally.
Abroad, our martyred Imam worked to establish the foundations of Islamic unity and made Palestine the central issue of the Islamic Ummah. By making the greatest sacrifices, the martyred Imam established numerous scientific, cultural, social and military institutions to cultivate young people of the resistance from among the sons of the Islamic Ummah and to provide them with the means necessary to build power. This effort has developed into what we today call the “Axis of Resistance.”

How would you describe the dominance of rationality in the actions and approaches of the martyred leader of the Revolution?
Our martyred Imam was a unique Islamic and international leader who was distinguished by his wisdom, courage, compassion and comprehensive geopolitical vision.
One of the most prominent indicators of wisdom and rationality in the thought of the martyred Imam was his understanding of priorities. He also understood the necessity of simultaneously establishing the foundations of the Islamic system and creating institutions that would preserve and protect the interests of the people. He emphasized the production of knowledge, science and power, as well as the capabilities necessary to preserve the country’s existence and independence.
He advocated moderation and balance as an ethical approach to the management of public affairs and the resolution of disputes.
Our martyred Imam fought amid a soft war that the enemy had launched to create divisions inside Iran. When these efforts failed, the enemy resorted to hard war in the Twelve-Day War and the Ramadan War, during which our beloved Imam, along with a number of the most prominent commanders and members of his family, was martyred.
The Palestinian and Quds cause was one of the most important pillars of his movement toward consolidating the independence of the Islamic world and creating unity among Muslims and even with other divine religions. How was the Palestinian issue manifested in the actions of the martyred leader of the Revolution?
Among the legacies of the martyred Imam was the establishment of the resistance movement in the region and the world, centered on Palestine and Quds.
He was eager to implement the testament of Imam Khomeini — “erasing Israel from existence.” He effectively began this effort following the success of the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and the establishment of the first Palestinian embassy in the world.
Within a few years, between 1985 and 1987, Islamic resistance was established in Lebanon and Palestine. During this period, the Quds Force was created with the support of our martyred Imam. This force, which assumed responsibility for managing the confrontation with the Zionist enemy and American hegemony, held a special place in the heart of the martyred Imam.
The martyrdom of General Qassem Soleimani in January 2020 was a significant and profound event that saddened the martyred Imam, given the role the general played in creating the “Axis of Resistance” and his ability to alter the balance of power at the regional and international levels.
In fact, the personality of the martyred Imam played a major role in the emergence of great commanders such as Martyr Soleimani, Martyr Sayed Hassan Nasrallah, and other prominent martyred leaders from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Basij, and the Popular Mobilization Forces.
The life path of the martyred Imam was the path of spiritual journey and conduct of a righteous servant who devoted his entire life to God, the Prophet and the Ahl al-Bayt, peace be upon them, and assisted the oppressed in Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Yemen, Africa and Latin America.
As Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, said: “Our martyred Imam was a renowned yet unknown man.”
He was a complete school of emancipation and freedom and the devoted disciple of his teacher and mentor, Imam Khomeini. The Khomeini/Khamenei school is an Islamic, progressive and reformist school that has come to liberate people from the domination of the satanic Epstein group, liberate holy sites, and pave the way for the establishment of the Divine Just Government.
Today, after 47 years, Iran is the center of resistance in the South and an independent global power led by two learned leaders. Today, it stands here having emerged victorious from the heart of a mad global war, thanks to the power and determination of its armed forces, the courage and bravery of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the unity of the people, and the steadfastness of its leadership.
