US intervention in Iran unrest amounts to violation of int’l law: Politician

Tehran, IRNA – Former Iranian ambassador to Muscat, Oman, Hossein Noushabadi has said that the blatant interference of the United States in Iran’s internal affairs and President Donald Trump’s constant threats against the Islamic Republic are clear violations of international law.

Noushabadi told IRNA on Tuesday that the sovereignty of states is a main principle in international law and that internal affairs of countries will not be solved but via internal dialogue; therefore, other nations do not have the right to interfere and dictate in this respect.

According to the former envoy, the US and the Israeli regime are seeking to sow discord and weaken national unity in Iran. The divisive comments by the US president and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Iran’s recent unrest show their sinister intention to misuse riots.

He argued that interventionist policies of other countries in internal affairs of another state are considered violation of UN rules and amounts to promoting violence and terrorism against citizens of that country.

The Islamic Republic of Iran will defend the legitimate rights of its citizens in line with the Constitution, he said, adding that Tehran will not allow other states to interfere in its internal affairs.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the former ambassador referred to the recent trip of Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Albusaidi to Tehran, saying that the visiting foreign minister underlined that the regional security must be maintained by all countries of the region.

Noushabadi expressed hope that other regional nations would stand against expansionist policies of the Israeli regime and do not allow it to threaten peace and stability in West Asia.
