After intense and violent anti-government protests have taken place in Iran, the United States has threatened to attack the country, possibly in the next few hours.

Washington’s Double Standards and a History of Intervention
In a recent statement, US President Donald Trump condemned the killing of hundreds of protesters in Iran, signaling the US’s intent to attack the country. However, history demonstrates that the United States is one of the cruelest nations in the world, as it killed hundreds of thousands of people around the world through its covert and overt operations. As per reports, more than 940,000 people were killed, of which more than 432,000 were civilians, in post 9/11 war in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria, and Yemen from 2001 to 2023. In addition, the United States is one of the key allies and supporters of the Israeli war crimes in Gaza.
Washington has also been a key provider of weapons to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) throughout history, especially since Oct. 7, 2023. In his recent address to the Israeli Knesset, President Trump not only confessed his role in providing weapons to the Zionist state, which resulted in the killing of more than 85000 Palestinian civilians, but also praised Netanyahu for using these weapons against the innocent Palestinians effectively. The increasing inflation in Iran and the rising economic crisis are also created by the United States and its allies through sanctions. This economic crisis sparked anti-government protests in different cities across Iran.
A Looming War and the Threat of Regional Chaos
In violent clashes between the security forces and the protesters, more than 2400 people have been killed. The government of Iran claimed that foreign intelligence, allegedly the Mossad and CIA, is involved in these violent protests. The former US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo’s, controversial New Year’s tweet further strengthened suspicions of a covert hand behind these protests by foreign intelligence services. He wrote on his social media account, “Happy New Year to every Iranian in the streets. Also to every Mossad agent walking beside them.” Historically, the CIA and Mossad have been involved in numerous covert operations in the Middle East to topple anti-West governments and destabilize different nations across the world. In August 2013, the CIA publicly admitted to its involvement in a coup against the then-Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh.
The recent anti-government protests in Iran also seem to be part of a US strategy to topple the Islamic regime in Iran. Tehran has been the stronger regional rival of the United States and Israel in the region for decades. It has been providing diplomatic, financial, and military support to the proxy groups fighting against the Israeli occupation, war crimes, and genocide in Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon. President Trump is playing the decades-old US destabilization game in Iran. Israel and the United States attacked Iran in mid-2025. However, seeing a strong retaliation by Iran against Israel, they have changed their policy and have now destabilized the country through massive protests. The US President Donald Trump wrote on his social media platform, “Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING — TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!! Save the names of the killers and abusers. They will pay a high price. I have cancelled all meetings with Iranian officials until the senseless killing of protesters STOPS. HELP IS ON ITS WAY.”
As per reports, the United States is planning to attack Iran. According to some US officials, the Pentagon has presented different options to President Trump to attack Iran, including its nuclear facilities. Reports also suggest that the United States has ordered partial evacuation of its military bases in the Middle East, especially the Al’Udeid airbase in Qatar. The United Kingdom has also followed. According to Reuters, “Two European officials told Reuters that US military intervention appeared likely, with one saying it could come in the next day.” The Iranian officials have also threatened the United States with massive retaliation on all its bases and interests in the region.
Undoubtedly, the current circumstances suggest that US strikes on Iran are imminent. It seems that the United States and Israel are ready to go to war with Iran within 24-48 hours to overthrow the Islamic regime. However, this war would drag the whole region into a new era of violence, instability, and endless chaos. The ramifications of this war will be felt globally. President Trump’s offensive in South America, the Middle East, and North America illustrates that a world war between the West and East is inevitable. The United Nations and other international institutions seem helpless in this scenario as Israel and the US do not recognize any international norms or laws. However, global leaders must acknowledge that any miscalculation could trigger the start of World War 3. In the current situation, middle powers need to play their role to prevent the world from plunging into another dark era.
