The Patriarchs and Heads of the Churches in Jerusalem issued on 17 January a unified statement reaffirming that the Christian communities of the Holy Land are represented solely through their historic Apostolic Churches.
They warned against individuals promoting politicized ideologies such as so-called “Christian Zionism,” saying these efforts mislead the public, fracture Christian unity, and risk harming the Christian presence in Jerusalem, the Holy Land, and the wider region.
The statement stresses that any claims to authority outside the Church’s communion undermine pastoral responsibility, interfere in church affairs, and threaten the integrity and continuity of Christian witness in the land where Christ lived, suffered, and rose.
