IQNA – An Iranian university professor emphasized the important role of the institution of family in the formation of Islamic civilization.

She made the remarks in a speech delivered at the 33rd Tehran International Holy Quran Exhibition on Monday, on the topic of “Growth of Islamic Civilization in the Paradise of the Family”.
She referred to the various dimensions of human life from the perspective of the Holy Quran and emphasized the pivotal and decisive role of choosing a spouse in the continuation of human life.
Explaining the individual life of man in terms of two dimensions, material and spiritual, Hajj Abdolbaqi said most people are familiar with the material dimension of their lives, but they are unaware of the spiritual dimension.
Citing the hadith “Whoever knows himself, has indeed known his Lord”, the university scholar considered the correct knowledge of oneself to be the foundation of spiritual growth and the path to God.
She considered the first manifestation of social life to be choosing a spouse and emphasized this choice is the link between individual life and human historical life; because choosing a spouse correctly or incorrectly has a direct impact on the health of the generation and the continuation of the divine path of the family.
Citing the verses of Surah Ghafir, the scholar explained that the Holy Quran establishes a link between the historical roots of the tribes and their current behavior, and this is the continuation of life throughout history.
“Just as the Children of Israel repeated the continuation of the past with their behavior, each family continues the moral and spiritual legacy of its ancestors in its current life.”
She said the Quran prohibits impure marriages and emphasizes that the purity of the generation depends on choosing a pious and believing spouse. “If a young person enters (married) life without repentance and changing their spiritual path, the chain of purity of the generation will be interrupted.”
This Quranic researcher, citing examples of the connection between the generations of prophets from Prophet Abraham (AS) to the prophets after him, noted that choosing the right spouse is the source of the formation of the historical charter of families.
Just as all divine Imams from Prophet Abraham (AS) to the present day are from his descendants, this pure chain has continued by choosing a righteous spouse, she stated.
Hajj Abdolbaqi emphasized the need for young people to pay attention to faith-based criteria in marriage and said the Quranic family is the basis of a healthy society, and understanding the dimensions of life in the Quran can clarify the path of human individual and social growth.
