OIC condemns Israeli ambassador’s expansionist remarks

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the recent remarks by Israeli ambassador to the U.S. regarding the regime’s biblical right to expand its occupation in the Middle East.

In a statement issued Saturday, the OIC General Secretariat said,” Huckabee’s statements constitute an unacceptable call for Israel, as the occupying power, to expand its territory and seize more Palestinian and Arab lands.”

It continued that the remarks by the Israeli envoy are based on false and unacceptable historical and ideological claims that violate the sovereignty of states, diplomatic norms, the principles of international law, and UN resolutions and its Charter.

OIC, in its concluding statement, reiterated its unwavering and absolute support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent and sovereign state in line with June 4, 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.

Mike Huckabee, in a recent interview with U.S. journalist Tucker Carlson, defended Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip and voiced support for the idea of “divine providence” giving control of the region to Israel.

He argued that Israel has a biblical right to the land stretching from the Nile to the Euphrates rivers.

The remarks have drawn global condemnation from countries, leaders and resistance groups.
