Head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani said after Khamenei’s assassination that Israel and US assets in the region will be hit ‘like never before’

Video footage showed millions of people on the streets of the capital and other cities, waving Iranian flags and mourning the leader’s death.
Protests against the US and Israel have also erupted in Pakistan and Iraq.
Angry protesters in Pakistan’s Karachi attempted to storm the US consulate on Sunday morning. At least ten have been shot dead by Pakistani security forces and US consulate personnel. Thousands protested in Kashmir as well.
Iraqis also stormed the Green Zone in Baghdad, where the US embassy is located. The popular movements coincided with continued US-Israeli strikes on Iran and retaliatory drone and missile operations targeting Israel and Washington’s assets across the region. Iraqi resistance groups have also begun drone operations against US bases.
“The assassination of Sayyed Ali Khamenei is tantamount to a declaration of open war against Muslims, particularly Shiites, all over the world,” said Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Ali Larijani, head of the Supreme National Security Council in Iran, said Washington and Tel Aviv will be hit with “a force that they have never experienced before.”
Khamenei’s assassination was announced early on 1 March, hours after US President Donald Trump announced his killing in a speech.
He was killed in his office “while performing his duties” on Saturday morning, Fars News Agency reported.
"The martyrdom of Sayyed Ali Khamenei will be the trigger of a great uprising against the tyrants of the world,” Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said.
Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC Lt. General Mohammad Pakpour, Adviser to the Supreme Leader and Secretary of the Defense Council Admiral Ali Shamkhani, and Minister of Defense Major General Aziz Nasirzadeh were also assassinated.
Several resistance factions across the region have released statements mourning the Supreme Leader’s death and condemning the US-Israeli attacks on the Islamic Republic.
“Sayyed Ali Khamenei was the main supporter of the Resistance Axis and of Palestine and its Mujahideen. How could it be otherwise, given that everything the Islamic Republic has provided for decades in support and backing of our people and our resistance … was by his direct decision and under his full supervision,” said Hamas’s Qassam Brigades.
