Cooperation with Israel and the United States Is a “Great Betrayal”

: Grand Mufti of Yemen
He emphasized that both religious rulings and national laws prescribe the severest penalties for those who betray their country and their people.
He said that one of the primary responsibilities of scholars and preachers is to warn against coordination or engagement with Israel and its Western allies, describing such actions as a departure from core religious values and a betrayal of the nation’s fundamental causes.
Sharaf al‑Din cautioned against showing leniency toward individuals involved in acts of treachery, stressing that the moral duty toward such cases is fulfilled only by reporting them immediately—even if the individuals are close relatives—in order to protect society and prevent infiltration and conspiracies.
In a related statement, the Grand Mufti expressed deep concern over the growing indifference across parts of the Muslim world toward the conflicts in Gaza, Lebanon, Iraq, and Iran.
He referred to the ongoing pressure and blockade imposed by the United States on the Islamic Republic of Iran, while criticizing Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for limiting their stance to official declarations rejecting the use of their territories for attacks against Iran, without taking concrete actions aligned with regional principles.
Sharaf al‑Din reiterated that some Persian Gulf states have allowed foreign forces into Arab and Islamic lands, yet when addressing major regional issues, they rely primarily on media statements that contradict their religious and national responsibilities.
The statement was issued amid heightened regional tensions resulting from the ongoing war against Gaza and Lebanon, as well as increased pressure on Iran involving Israel, the United States, and their allies.
