American Writer: The “Maximum Pressure” Policy Strengthened Iran’s Deterrence Capability

Leon Hadar, an American writer, emphasized that the U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear agreement and the adoption of the maximum pressure policy not only failed to weaken Iran, but in fact strengthened its nuclear program and deterrence capabilities.

According to Taghrib News Agency(TNA), Hadar wrote in an analysis that Iran possesses real deterrent power, and any military action against the country would not achieve its objectives and would instead increase regional complexities.
He noted that Iran’s missile capabilities enable it to target U.S. bases in the region, making the option of war costly and unpredictable.
Hadar argued that the realistic path forward is diplomatic dialogue based on mutual respect.
He added that Muscat provides a genuine opportunity for de-escalation, and that temporary agreements addressing the concerns of both sides—balancing nuclear commitments with limited sanctions relief—are possible.
The analyst stressed the importance of reaching understandings on regional issues and establishing mechanisms to prevent escalation. He warned that any new war in the Middle East would not serve U.S. interests and could accelerate the decline of Washington’s influence in the region.
In conclusion, Hadar emphasized that past experiences show such crises typically end with a return to the negotiating table, and that a sustainable solution is only achievable through a rational approach based on dialogue and mutual understanding—not threats and pressure.
