TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf underscored the vital importance of African nations, particularly South Africa, in the Islamic Republic's diplomatic endeavors.
Speaking at a meeting with political and cultural activists, as well as several South African parliament members in Johannesburg, Qalibaf emphasized the common objectives shared by Iran, Africa, and the Muslim world. He stressed that South Africa's significance to Iran is on par with that of the BRICS nations.
"In addition to combatting arrogance, we must consider the economic potential between nations, particularly Iran and South Africa," Qalibaf stated.
He highlighted the necessity of leveraging these economic capacities to foster greater economic and trade cooperation and to strengthen bilateral relations.
Qalibaf had previously delivered a speech at the BRICS Parliamentary Forum in Johannesburg, where he emphasized the need for a world characterized by justice and spirituality.
He asserted that the BRICS group of major emerging economies, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, can play a pivotal role in creating such an environment.
