ISLAMABAD- Pakistan has become weak in foreign affairs that even if the ambassador of a country visits a city, the world starts looking at it from the point of view that has Pakistan moved towards any policy change?
And it is only because we have weakened the economy due to deliberate non-democratic measures and if there is a weak economy, then questions start to arise more quickly.
One of my foreign friends asked me about the U.S. ambassador's visit to Gwadar, whether the motives for the visit should be considered merely symbolic or did it seem to create the possibility of a policy shift. I asked why did you feel from the U.S. ambassador's visit to Gwadar that a big idea like a policy shift came to your mind. The answer was that the U.S. ambassador had also taken two of his military attachés with him and to accompany the military officers on such a visit was a sign that his objectives were not only symbolic but the perspective was big.
Although I think that the perspective of the world and especially the United States is always big about Pakistan, we should not always look at this perspective in a negative way. Rather, efforts should be made to have a positive impact because if we try together, Pakistan is a country with full potential to expand the positive effects of any step.
It is reported that Pakistan has appointed more high-level military officers in the FC to make the FC more active in order to protect the sensitivity of Baluchistan and its related economic issues from Indian conspiracies so that the capacity of this institution can be improved to deal with any kind of unrest.
All this is happening along the borders of Afghanistan and Iran, and inevitably there will be American interest in what kind of strategy Pakistan is pursuing there. And to understand this, the U.S. ambassador was accompanied by his military officers because their meetings included high-level civil and military officials there, and such exchange of views is considered a normal operation in the diplomatic world.
Pakistan is taking very serious steps to curb smuggling on the Pakistan-Iran border and it has also signed an agreement to promote trade with Iran, in which 26 items can be taken from Iran and 11 items from Pakistan. This is a major development in Pakistan-Iran relations and American interest in the impact it will have is not a secret.
According to what is being discussed in the media, the U.S. Ambassador discussed the pure business interest of American business companies in Pakistan, especially in Gwadar. He even said that 35 American companies are ready to invest in Pakistan and his visit to Baluchistan and Gwadar does not mean any adventure against China.
We should believe this and keep the situation in such a way that no one can venture against any country in Pakistan. Pakistan's interests are related to different countries in the world in different ways and it is not in our interest to spoil from any side.
Recodec's project has also attracted the U.S. interest. The United States wants to work with the Saudis. Saudi Arabia wants investment in Recodec and U.S. expertise in this area. Along with Recodec, there are also air transport facilities for commercial purposes and that is a very important issue.
I narrated all this to my foreign friend and told him that Pakistan would not provide any kind of military facilities to any country in the world. Pakistan's highest-level political leadership and military officials agree, in the light of past experiences, that any such facility, whenever provided to any country, has harmed Pakistan.
Therefore, any such request made by any side will be rejected without taking into account any pressure and the defense authorities are closely examining every step being taken by any side or at any level.
Pakistan is no longer ready to receive any direct interventional support to prevent terrorism, like drone attacks in the past. And this is the right way to tackle any situation. Our neighbors should be our priority.
