Iran to launch 2 more satellites by yearend: Hajizadeh

TEHRAN, (MNA) – Commander of IRGC Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh said that the 'Noor-3' satellite was successfully placed into orbit earlier on Wednesday, adding that two more satellites will be launched by yearend.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday after the launch of domestically-developed imaging Noor-3 by the satellite carrier Qased (Messenger), the IRGC Aerospace Force commander said that the satellite was successfully placed into an orbit 450 kilometers (280 miles) above the Earth’s surface.

"In the not-too-distant future, we will have a system of satellites in orbit," Gen. Hajizadeh said, after hailing Iran's face pace of progress in developing satellite technology.

The commander further responded to a question about his  force's plans for the future, saying, "If we can, we will do two more launches by the end of the year (March 21, 2024)."

Today's launch of homegrown satellites by IRGC Aerospace was the third of its kind the launches in 2020 and 2022.

Back in March last year, the IRGC Aerospace Force launched Noor-2 into orbit using the Qased satellite carrier, two years after it placed Noor-1 into orbit.

Meanwhile, the IRGC commander-in-chief Major General Hossein Salami has offered congratulations on the launch of the satellite and said that the data from it will meet the IRGC's need for information.
