Iranian parliament approves accession to Makkah Treaty

TEHRAN, (MNA) –Lawmakers at the Iranian Parliament have approved the government’s accession to the “Makkah Al-Mukarramah Convention of member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Cooperation.

Aimed at enhancing cooperation among law enforcement agencies to combat corruption, the bill was approved with 162 votes in favor, 9 votes against and 4 abstentions out of 198 representatives attended the parliament session.

During the Wednesday session of the Iranian legislative body, the government of Islamic Republic of Iran is authorized to accede to the Makkah Treaty of member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Law Enforcement Cooperation against Corruption, consisting of a preamble and (23) articles as set out in the annex.

According to Note 2 of the appendix, Justice and Foreign are required to submit a report on the implementation of this law to the Legal and Judicial Committee of the Parliament every year.
