American Analyst Acknowledges Washington’s Defeat by Yemen in the Red Sea

According to Taghrib News Agency(TNA), Larry Johnson, a former analyst at the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), stated that Yemen’s operations in the Red Sea have imposed a new reality on Western powers and exposed the failure of Washington and its allies to secure maritime routes they had claimed to control for decades.

He noted that Yemen’s capabilities have fundamentally altered the maritime balance of power in the region.

Johnson’s admission reflects both a military and political setback for Washington. He stressed that the determination of the Yemenis, combined with increasingly sophisticated capabilities, has created unprecedented deterrence dynamics.
Analysts say Johnson’s remarks amount to an internal acknowledgment within the United States of the erosion of Western naval supremacy, confirming that Yemen has emerged as an influential actor in regional and international maritime security.
Since late 2023, Yemen has carried out a series of naval operations in the Red Sea against the Israeli regime in support of the Palestinian cause. These developments prompted U.S. and allied forces to expand their naval presence, yet they still failed to overcome Yemen’s actions.
