Dr. Kharrazi emphasized that European countries, as ICC members, must firstly enforce this ruling and secondly answer why they have consistently supported such war criminals by providing them with lethal weapons and financial resources.
He further stated that now that the ICC has confirmed that Israeli leaders have committed war crimes, European governments must clarify whether they will continue to provide their political, financial, and military support for this criminal regime or choose a different path.
Commenting on statements by Trump’s National Security Advisor candidate dismissing the ICC’s credibility, Dr. Kharrazi noted, “Such remarks vividly illustrate the true, ugly face of Western governments that claim to be champions of civilization. They claim to uphold human rights but are, in practice, the most flagrant violators.”
The President of the SCFR added, “The wars in Gaza and Lebanon have unveiled many hidden facts, exposing the deceit of Western advocates of democracy and human rights.”
He pointed out that the U.S. veto of the Gaza ceasefire resolution in the recent UN Security Council session, despite 14 members supporting it, underscores the USA’s deep complicity in Israel’s crimes.
Dr. Kharrazi explained, “The balanced resolution called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire on the one hand and the release of Israeli captives on the other. The U.S. veto of such a balanced resolution proves that the US is not interested in ending this war, just as Israel isn’t, and has put all ceasefire proposals to a dead-end by all kinds of tricks. Both are engaged in a coordinated political game aimed at the total extirpation of Palestine.”
