This is a sure statement of what is to follow. The western policy of colonization and imperialism has received a new lease of life.
It is worth mentioning that although Syria had not opened a frontline with zionist Israel after 1973, it had prevented Israeli invasion despite being a small country with modest means.
In fact, midway during the 1973 war, it was then Egyptian president Anwar Sadat who betrayed the Syrians when he stopped hostilities and solicited United States intervention leaving Syria exposed.
What followed Sadat’s betrayal was the Camp David Accords of 1978 and shortly thereafter Egypt’s capitulation to zionist Israel.
This paved the way for Jordan to adopt a similar course.
In an attempt to reverse this trend of betrayal, capitulation and treason, the revolutionary Muslim General, Qassem Soleimani shaheed, had spent decades investing in the Islamic Resistance.
He masterminded a strategic vision for the region to rid itself of zionism and colonialism. He improvised means to strengthen the armed resistance of Hamas and Islamic Jihad in the besieged Gaza strip as well as their brothers in arms, Hizbullah in Lebanon.
The Islamic Republic of Iran, the arch-nemesis of zionism and imperialism in the region, had invested heavily in Syria.
It took the form of military aid, humanitarian aid, fuel, logistics, supply lines, etc. in order to ensure a steady build-up of momentum to liberate the region from zionism and imperialism.
The fall of the Syrian government to the zionist-imperialist-Wahhabi front, Hay’at Tahrir al Shaam (HTS), and the decimation of the Syrian military capability by zionist Israel on the watch of HTS has dealt a major setback to the Islamic Resistance.
We will examine the role of the Islamic Movement by drawing from a crucial lesson in the aftermath of the military confrontation at Battle of Uhud.
Allah’s Prophet had positioned about 50 archers on a hill behind the Muslims’ ranks. He ordered these archers not to leave their positions regardless of whether the Muslims are victorious over the mushriks (those who rival Allah’s power and authority|) or the mushriks became victorious.
When those archers saw the Muslims were winning, the vast majority abandoned their positions and rushed to collect war booty.
That resulted in an immediate military reversal for the Prophet and the Islamic armed forces. The Muslims thereafter became defensive and the near victory at Uhud turned into a major setback.
How did the Muslims behave when there was an attack, an assault and an invasion of an Islamic territory?
Did Allah’s Prophet and the struggling Muslims with him surrender? Or sign agreements with the invading and colonizing enemy?
While the Muslims were in virtual retreat, the following day Allah’s Prophet said “we’re going to pursue these mushriks”.
He did so because he was actively conscious of the social laws at work; i.e. if these mushriks felt that the Muslims were defeated, then the next time they will attack the Muslims at home.
We don’t live in a social vacuum.
If there is an empty space, some aggressive power will move in to fill that vacuum with hostilities and bloodshed—as we observe today.
Allah’s Prophet said to whoever participated at Uhud—some of them were injured, maimed, psychologically traumatized by the rumor that Allah’s Prophet was killed, etc—“put on your military gear and we are going to pursue these mushriks.”
And they did.
They went as far as an area called Hamra’ al Asad which was eight stretches or 14.72 kilometers south of Al Madinah—a long distance considering that just the previous day they came out bleeding, injured, maimed, psychologically traumatized and less then victorious in battle.
What were the dynamics or the social law at work?
People on a course of victory want more.
Abu Sufyan, the commander-in-chief of the mushriks at Uhud, was thinking of returning to Al Madinah to fight and finish the Muslims off within one week after Uhud.
Does this lesson from Uhud live in our minds today?
Do Muslims know that if these zionists and imperialists take one country, territory or oil field they will want to take the next one?
One of the mushrik spies, Safwaan ibn Umayah ibn Khalaf, had information that the Muslims left Al Madinah on the war-path to do a follow up battle with the mushriks.
Imagine the state of the Muslims—bleeding, injured, maimed, psychologically traumatized and less than victorious—but here they were because they recognized the social law at work.
When these mushriks realized that this may not be a winning streak after all because the Muslims re-grouped and were coming to do battle with them again, they said “let’s get the hell out of here and go back to Makkah.”
And they did.
We have stepped out of the behavior of Allah’s Prophet; abandoned his consciousness and marginalized the social laws that are expressed to us in the Qur’an but we want to impress on ourselves that we remain committed, obedient, God-fearing Muslims, thinking of ourselves as “Muslims on top of the world”!
This is our failure of character and our contradiction of the Qur’an and the Prophet.
A previous article touched on the Pezeshkian-Zarif crowd of Iranian nationalists’ choice to compromise.
This means that it is, once again, time for the Islamic Movement to reassert itself and provide full and un-conditional support to the Islamic Resistance as opposed to what may be considered half-hearted support based on countless consequence-based calculations affecting the national interest.
Ironic as it may seem, the allies of Israel know no limits in their support for the zionist Israeli colonial project.
They are fully committed to providing unconditional support to racist genocidal maniacs.
The zionist are committing genocide in Palestine and have decapitated the leadership of Hamas and Hizbullah.
They have supported the overthrow of the Syrian government and the only barrier preventing the actualization of their larger colonial project, Eretz Israel, is now the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The strategic patience doctrine being implemented, heretofore, under the watchful and strategic eye of the Islamic Republic of Iran needs to be reconsidered.
One cannot fault the revolutionary leadership in the Islamic Republic for stepping back a little to take stock of the situation.
It has made huge sacrifices of unmatched proportions but it needs to consider whether offense is the best form of defense lest it wants to see the zionists and imperialists on its doorstep and in its backyard.
This has become an existential imperative when war is upon it and it is the next target of the zionists and imperialists.
Hence, make ready against them [the mushrik enemies] whatever force and [impressive] war mounts you are able to muster, so that you might deter thereby the enemies of Allah, who are your enemies as well, and others besides them of whom you may be unaware, [but] of whom Allah is aware; and whatever you may expend in Allah’s cause shall be repaid to you in full, and you shall not be wronged (The Ascendant Qur’an, Surat Al Anfal, verse 60).
