Whose missile killed 12 Druze children at Majdal Shams?

The Islamic resistance movement Hizbullah has categorically denied carrying out the July 27 missile strike at a soccer field in the Israeli occupied Golan Height’s Majdal Shams village that killed 12 children.

The children were all Druze.

While Israel has accused Hizbullah of carrying out the strike, the Islamic resistance movement says it was a misfired Israeli missile from the Iron Dome that killed the children.

There is no reason why Hizbullah would want to kill members of the Druze community, especially children.

It has never targeted civilians.

That is the speciality of the zionist war criminals.

More than 39,000 Palestinians slaughtered in Gaza is proof positive of Israeli war crimes.

The Druze in Majdal Shams have refused to accept Israeli citizenship, insisting on retaining their Syrian nationality.

At a press briefing on July 28, when the Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari incorrectly identified the victims as ‘Israeli citizens’, a journalist had to correct him.

Hizbullah has nothing to gain by carrying out such an attack.

There is a large Druze community in Lebanon with whom Hizbullah has a workable relationship.

A Hizbullah strike on Druze children would almost certainly complicate matters for the Islamic resistance movement.

Lebanon has a delicate political balance that Hizbullah would not want to disturb, especially at this critical time.

Al Araby TV’s correspondent said she spoke to an Israeli rescuer, who told her eyewitnesses believe the rocket came from Israel’s Iron Dome system rather than Hizbullah. …

Israeli missile strike on Druze children, on the other hand, would achieve several zionist objectives.

It must be borne in mind that Israeli war planes fired three missiles at the Khadija Girls School in Deir al-Balah in Central Gaza the same day.

That strike killed 31 people and injured more than 100.

The Majdal Shams strike diverted attention from the latest Israeli crime.

By targeting Druze children and blaming it on Hizbullah, Israel hopes to turn the Druze community in Lebanon against the resistance movement.

Since Israel’s genocidal onslaught on Gaza was launched in October 2023, Hizbullah has kept the pressure on the zionist military.

There are almost daily exchanges of rocket and drone strikes between the two.

While slavish American politicians again talked about Israel’s right to “defend itself and its citizens”, they conveniently overlooked the fact that the Golan Heights are illegally occupied by Israel.

Typical of this was US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

He claimed that “every indication is that indeed the rocket was from Hizbullah,” and that Washington stood by “Israel’s right to defend its citizens from terrorist attacks.”

Except that the Golan Heights are part of Syrian territory illegally occupied by Israel and the Druze are Syrian, not Israeli citizens.

In reporting on the funeral for Druze children, the Cradle wrote: “Residents of the town, many of whom have refused Israeli citizenship, kicked out several Israeli politicians from the funeral, including members of the Israeli parliament and far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.”[See video from The Cradle.]

One person is heard shouting: “Get out of here, you criminal [referring to Smotrich], we don’t want you in the Golan.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tried to arrange a meeting for him with the victims’ families, who refused, Haaretz reported.

As Netanyahu visited the site on July 29, a protest was organised where demonstrators were seen carrying signs that read: “Down to the killers of the children… a war criminal”, in reference to Israel's war on Gaza.

Israel’s latest ploy to divert attention from its own crimes appears to have failed.

Escalating tensions between Hizbullah and Israel may lead to a full-scale war but the zionists would only be signing their own death warrant.
