The Secretary General of the United Nations congratulated Masoud Pezeshkian on being elected as Iran’s new president and expressed his readiness to collaborate with Iran’s new government.
NOURENEWS: While expressing his happiness over the election of Pezeshkian as the new president of Iran, António Guterres said that the United Nations and he himself are eagerly waiting to collaborate with Iran’s new government.
Pointing to Iran’s critical role in the region, the UN Secretary General called for the new Iranian president to play a role in solving regional crises and preventing new conflicts that could be a potential threat to the region and beyond.
Guterres also emphasized the UN’s continued commitment to supporting Iran’s efforts to achieve the goals of the sustainable development program.
Guterres wished the best for President Pezeshkian in his new mission and acknowledged that he is counting on Iran’s new president to develop the values and ideals of the United Nations Charter.
