Netanyahu’s litany of lies applauded by American ‘clowns’

For more than an hour, Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu ranted before the US Congress on July 24 and told a litany of lies.

Each lie was greeted with thunderous applause.

Members of congress, referred to as “clowns” by senior Hamas official Izzet el-Risheq in a column published by Al Jazeera, hardly got a chance to sit down.

The applause and whooping were so frequent that Netanyahu had to tell them to keep quiet and listen.

It was truly a spectacle for an institution that Pat Buchanan described many years ago as “zionist-occupied territory”.

The craven manner in which members of congress reacted to Netanyahu’s lies proved Buchanan was right.

Despite killing more than 39,300 Palestinians since October 7, 2023, Netanyahu claimed that Israel has taken “more precautions to prevent civilian harm than any military in history.”

Perhaps, that is why the Israeli army and air force planes have continued to bomb schools and hospitals where children and displaced Palestinians have sought shelter.

He lied about allowing food deliveries into Gaza, a claim rejected by the UN.

Netanyahu claimed Israel has facilitated the entry of over 40,000 aid trucks into the strip.

According to the UN, 28,018 aid trucks have entered the strip since October 2023.

Since Israeli forces seized the Rafah crossing in May, only 2,835 aid trucks have been allowed into the besieged enclave.

It is one of the only crossings through which food deliveries can enter Gaza.

Humanitarian organizations and UN officials have repeatedly criticized Israel’s restrictions on aid.

They have caused famine in Gaza.

In March, the UN’s hunger monitoring system, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), warned that Gaza was on the verge of famine.

A second report published in June found that the high risk of famine persists across the territory, with half a million Palestinians suffering starvation.

Children are most severely affected. Several have died of hunger.

“If there are Palestinians in Gaza who aren’t getting enough food, it’s not because Israel is blocking it. It’s because Hamas is stealing it,” Netanyahu alleged.

He provided no proof. His nonsensical allegations have already been debunked by the UN.

There were two claims that the war criminal facing a possible arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC) made that need scrutiny.

He said “Our world is in upheaval. In the Middle East, Iran’s axis of terror confronts America, Israel and our Arab friends. This is not a clash of civilizations. It’s a clash between barbarism and civilization.”

Netanyahu also falsely accused Iran of funding the pro-Palestinian demonstrations taking place outside the Capitol, calling them “Iran’s useful idiots”.

The real “useful idiots” were sitting right in front of him whom he lectured for nearly one hour.

How could anyone with even an iota of decency sit there and applaud such lies, unless they are Israel’s useful idiots.

Let us also analyze his claim that Israel and the US represent “civilization” while those opposing them are “barbarians”.

The Israeli-US “civilization” has murdered more than 39,300 Palestinians, at least 18,000 of them children.

study by the British Medical Journal, The Lancetestimated the death toll in Gaza could be as high as 186,000.

It pointed out that the official death toll only takes into account deaths registered at hospitals in Gaza.

There are tens of thousands of people missing, buried under the rubble that have not been accounted for.

Perhaps killing such a large number of innocent people is part of the west’s “civilization”.

After all, Netanyahu was speaking in a building which stands on land stolen from the indigenous people.

The European settlers who came to this land perpetrated a genocide against the indigenous people, virtually wiping them out.

Zionist Israel is busy doing exactly the same to the Palestinians today.

As the author and journalist Jonathan Cook pointed out: “The US Congress decisively showed where it stood: with barbarism.”

Netanyahu implored his US handlers: “Give us the tools faster and we’ll finish the job faster.”

"Finish the job of genocide," Cook wrote, commenting on Netanyahu's demand.
