28 countries enter 6th Intl. Biennial Book Cartoon Contest

TEHRAN- With less than a month remaining for submissions to the 6th edition of the International Biennial Book Cartoon Contest, artists from 28 countries have already entered this prestigious festival.

The responses from cartoonists to the event, which is a premier international competition presenting the perspectives of national and international artists in the fields of books and reading, have been notable, according to the Iran Public Libraries Foundation's public relations. 

So far, participants have emerged from Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Cuba, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Mexico, Montenegro, Morocco, the Netherlands, Panama, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and Iran.

Following Iran, the highest number of submissions has come from China, Brazil, and Russia.

Organized by the Iran Public Libraries Foundation (IPLF), under the direction of the Masoud Shojaei Tabatabaei, the 6th International Biennial Book Cartoon Contest will be held in the themes of “Books, Children, and Family,” “Books, Leisure, Joy, and Tranquility,” “Books, Digital Age, and Artificial Intelligence,” “Books, Libraries, and Business,” “Books, Libraries, and Cultural and Social Hangouts,” and “Books, Libraries, and Important Social Events”. Additionally, “Books, Palestine, and Gaza Resistance” will be a subsidiary theme of the festival.

Participants can submit their works in two categories: professional (for professional artists) and beginner (for artists who have not participated in domestic and international competitions before).

Participation in the contest is open to all professional and beginner artists, and each artist can submit a maximum of five works in the specified themes to the festival. The use of artificial intelligence to create works will result in disqualification. All handmade and digital works are accepted.

Those interested in participating in the contest can submit their works by August 21 by registering on the festival's official website.

Terms & Conditions
Each participant can submit maximum five of their artworks in above mentioned areas of interest.
The festival is open to all to join.
The festival only accepts digital submissions, so the artworks must be scanned and submitted to the festival’s website. 
Any use of artificial intelligence to create works of art will result in removal from the competition.
The artworks submitted must be original and not have been awarded in any other competitions or festivals.
All the participants whose artworks meet the minimum features of being accepted by the jury on the first step, will receive the electronic certificate of participation in the festival, and the winners will also receive a copy of printed book.
All the copyrights and intellectual rights of the submitted works are reserved for the institution of public libraries of Iran.


How to Apply
In order to apply for the competition, participants can send their artworks via email booktooniran@gmail.com 
Works must be sent electronically, in JPG format and 300 dpi quality.
The size of the small side of the work should not be smaller than 2000 pixels.
Works can be black and white or colored.
The technique and method of presentation of the works is free.
A Word file containing full name, postal address, email address, phone number, photo and CV is kindly needed.
