Texas mosques to hold open day event to counter Islamophobia

The Islamic Association of north Texas has scheduled to hold open doors event in a bid to counter anti-Islam sentiments and discuss the wrong images promoted on Islam.

Islamic organizations WhyIslam, GainPeace and the Islamic Association of north Texas have organized an event to open mosque doors for the public in order to bridge the gap between minority Muslims and the American community calling on all neighbors from different faiths to attend the mosque on the day, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

The Organizers say the event is planned to reduce the Islamophobia, allow the people to access deeper understanding of Islam and build social relations between Muslims and their neighbors.

Sabeel Ahmad, Gain Peace director said in a statement that the Muslims are opening the mosque doors to provide their neighbors with an opportunity to become more familiar with the Muslim community.

He added," The current political ambiance has created both distrust and curiosity among the public for more familiarity with Islam and the event to open mosque doors will settle the issue and respond to questions on the holy religion."

Hijab booth, Q & A session, tour of the mosque, presentation about misunderstandings on Islam and Islamic artifacts table are the parts of this event.
