TEHRAN – The city of Shiraz witnessed a solemn gathering on Sunday as the funeral procession for martyr Masoumeh Karbasi began at Shohada Square in the Iranian city of Shiraz.
Karbasi was killed along with her Lebanese husband, Reza Awadeh, when their car was targeted on a Beirut highway. The couple fled the vehicle after realizing they were under attack but were tragically killed while running hand-in-hand in an adjacent field.
Additionally, the procession for the late Friday prayer leader in the southwestern Iranian city of Kazeroun Hojatoleslam Mohammad Sabahi was held on the same day.
Hojjatoleslam Sabahi has been martyred after succumbing to the wounds that he had suffered during an armed attack on Friday.
With a deep sense of respect and sorrow, the ceremony drew families of the martyrs, provincial and city officials, and large numbers of citizens from various walks of life.

There, in the shrine’s courtyard, a collective prayer was recited over the purified bodies of the two martyrs, further symbolizing the unity and faith of those present.
Following the prayers, Masoumeh Karbasi’s body was laid to rest in the sacred grounds beside the martyrs of the Shah Cheragh Shrine.
