Germany complicit in US-backed Israeli war on Lebanon

 By Sondoss al-Assad

BEIRUT - Germany openly and fully supports the Zionist regime’s aggression against Palestine and Lebanon.

Germany has been shipping arms to Israel unstoppably since October 2023 when the Gaza war broke out.

In addition to providing modern weaponry, Germany has given its diplomatic support to Israel’s genocidal war in Gaza.

On the anniversary of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock expressed her country’s absolute concern for the security of the occupying entity, expressing that “its defense does not only require killing civilians in Gaza, but destroying them.”

In recent decades, BND, the foreign intelligence service of the Federal Republic of Germany, has been highly active in spying on Hezbollah for Israel.

Amid the ongoing war, it has deployed 11 radar stations along the Lebanese coast to monitor Hezbollah’s drones. On October 17, a German warship shot down one of Hezbollah’s drones.

The German corvette Ludwigshafen am Rhein operates as part of the United Nations UNIFIL “peacekeeping mission”.

It is worth noting that Germany has been leading the UNIFIL naval force since 2021 by deploying 120 officers and soldiers.

The German defense ministry told Reuters: “The corvette brought an unidentified unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) into the water in a controlled crash,” reporting no damage to the German vessel or its crew.

For its part, the German embassy in Beirut continues incitement against Hezbollah through a series of NGOs that it funds.

Since the Beirut port explosion, and in a blatant violation of the rules of diplomatic action, Germany has widened its intervention in Lebanon’s affairs, whereby its former ambassador, Andreas Kindl, brazenly intervened in the linked investigations.

The German embassy in Beirut has spared no effort in discouraging Syrian refugees in Lebanon not to return to Syria, claiming that they will be arrested and killed. However, Syrian refugees in Germany constantly face abhorrent discrimination and Islamophobic attacks.

After her recent visit to Beirut, German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, wrote on X: “In Lebanon, people fear for their loved ones every single day. Here, too, Hezbollah terrorists are irresponsibly hiding behind civilians and firing rockets at Israel every day. Israel must defend itself against these attacks.”

Meanwhile, US special envoy Amos Hochstein met with Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv following his recent visit to Lebanon, amid skepticism about the feasibility of the US proposal, as happened on previous occasions.

In parallel, a French proposal was re-circulated that seeks a 21-day “truce” supervised by a French-British-German committee.

According to the alleged French truce, this is followed by: a cessation of “hostilities”; Hezbollah’s withdrawal to the north of the Litani River; wide deployment of the Lebanese army in the South; tightening control over Lebanon’s land, air and sea crossings to prevent arms smuggling; completing the demarcation of the land border between Lebanon and occupied Palestine.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah has called on the residents of 25 colonial settlements in northern occupied Palestinian territories to evacuate, as the resistance fighters shelled these settlements with rocket salvos. Besides, it targeted the Zevulon military industries base north of Haifa.

Channel 14 revealed that security officials recommend “ending the intensive offensive ground activity within a few weeks.”

Avi Ashkenazi, a Maariv correspondent, has further warned of “a major shortage of reserve soldiers in the next ten days when the school year begins,” noting that “this fact is being ignored at the political level, and this is one of our most difficult problems.”

All this Western arrogance and haughtiness will not benefit the ongoing imperialist war. The only bet is on the might of Hezbollah’s mujahideen who are humiliating the Zionists on the borders.

The war will not stop except on their terms and with a divine victory promised in advance by martyr leader of this battle, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. It is a “new Middle East” according to what the pro-resistance people desire.
