Iran to Give Decisive Response to Israeli Aggression

President Pezeshkian’s Assertion in Talks With

World Leaders

KAZAN, Russia (KI) -- President Masoud Pezeshkian here Wednesday asserted that any Israeli act of aggression against Iran will be met with a “decisive and unbelievable” response.
“We are not inclined towards expansion of conflict and tension in the region, and welcome any action that is in line with peace and calm,” he said during a meeting with Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on the sidelines of the BRICS summit.
“The Zionist regime’s actions, however, are being carried out with the precise aim of setting the entire region on fire,” he added.
Pezeshkian cited Israel’s assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31 as an instance of the regime’s attempts to obstruct the Islamic Republic’s goal of enhancing relations and cooperation with the countries of the world.
He pointed to Iran’s Operation True Promise II in early October in response to the Israeli regime’s acts of aggression against the country and other regional nations.
Iran, he said, observed a period of self-restraint before conducting the operation in the hope that the regime would cease its war of genocide against the Gaza Strip.
“However, continuation of the Zionist regime’s crimes in Gaza and expansion of the atrocities to Lebanon forced Iran not to leave its actions unanswered,” the Iranian president added.
Pezeshkian said the Western countries’ support for Israel is instrumental in continuation of the atrocities, urging those countries to take action towards controlling the regime.
The Ethiopian official, for his part, said his country is following the developments in the West Asia region with concern.
He said the current international and regional structure to be “unequal,” adding institutions like BRICS play a very effective role in eliminating such inequalities.
Abiy, meanwhile, praised Iran as a “strong and independent” country, saying the Ethiopians maintain a positive image of Addis Ababa’s bilateral relations with Tehran.
In his talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pezeshkian said Iran believes war hampers development, and hence, it seeks de-escalation in the region.
The president compared Iran’s message and performance directed towards development of peace and friendship with those of the Zionist regime is “pursuing crimes, massacres, and warmongering”.
“The Zionist regime has shown that it only seeks warfare and conflict,” he said, hoping that the regime’s supporters revisit their approach and support for Tel Aviv and help stop its atrocities.
Modi denounced Israel’s atrocities in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, saying India is taking part in consultations aimed at helping establish peace and calm in the region.
Modi stressed the need for development of economic ties, saying it serves the interests of the entire region.
He also expressed his country’s interest in development of bilateral relations, stressing the need for expedient implementation of their agreement in May to develop Iran’s port city of Chabahar.
The Indian prime minister pointed to his trip to the Islamic Republic in 2016, during which he met with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, describing it as memorable and asking Pezeshkian to convey his regards to Ayatollah Khamenei.
