Non-Muslim believers in Shiraz see election as chance of sympathy

Shiraz, IRNA – Followers of non-Muslim divine religions in Shiraz believe that election is an opportunity for sympathy among different strata of Iranian people, irrespective of their gender and religion.

Amir Ala Salari, the head of the Shiraz Jewish association, told IRNA that the more people participate in the election, the more strengthened would be the spirit of making demands from the government in the society.

He described participation in the election as a national duty that guarantees national interests, adding that the Jewish community of Shiraz would be present in the arena of election hand-in-hand with Muslim fellow citizens.

Khosrow Qods, the head of Shiraz Zoroastrian Association, echoed Salari on the notion that participation in election is a national duty, adding that Iran's Zoroastrian community would attend polls on the presidential election day on June 18.

Hermond Aratunian, the head of Shiraz Christian Church delegation, reminded in the interview with IRNA that the rate of the Iranian Christians' participation in the election amount to over 90 percent and assured that in the coming election, too, they would take part at the same extent.

He said that Christians see the election as a symbol of social responsibility and a valuable method to realize their demands.

Aratunian urged all the people to take part in the election despite the economic hardships they have experienced in recent years, as failing to do so would embolden the foes.
