Regarding the strategic results of this battle, it is necessary to mention a few points. There is a sense of success on the Palestinian side and a sense of defeat among the Zionists. Everywhere in Palestine and abroad, Palestinians are celebrating, but there is not a single case of victory declared among the media and prominent Israeli figures which indicates the Zionist regime is the winner of this heavy battle. As a result, it must be said that the main result of this battle was a change of mentality among the citizens on both sides of the border.
The confidence and trust of the Israelis to the Israeli army and its’ deterrent power was severely reduced because, firstly, it could not stop the rocket fire from the Gaza Strip with air strikes, and hasn’t ability to enter Gaza and go ahead with a ground incursion. Secondly, hundreds of Hamas rockets and other resistance groups penetrate the Iron Dome.
However, Iron Dome system intercepted 80% of the 4,000 rockets fired during this battle. In other words, about 800 rockets hit the cities of occupied territories and the amount of damage and casualties on the Israeli side was very high.
The quality and quantity of the resistance rockets in "Saif al-Quds" (Sword of al-Quds’) was fundamentally different from previous battles. Hamas and Islamic jihad movements extended the speed, range, accuracy and destructive power of their rockets and all major Israeli cities cane be targeted by Palestinian fire. They used rockets with a range of 250 km, for the first time.
Use of the armed reconnaissance drones were other strategic developments in the Operation of Sword of al-Quds. The important point is that small Palestinian reconnaissance aircraft could easily penetrate defense systems and provide the necessary information online to the operating room.
This development reflects the technological power, electronic warfare, and stealth’s capability of the drones of Palestinian resistance groups.
