US Golan decision to antagonize Muslim world: Pak analyst

Islamabad, IRNA - A senior Pakistani analyst strongly condemned the US recognition of the Golan Heights as Zionist regime’s territory, and said that it would antagonize whole Muslim world.

In an interview with IRNA, Lieutenant General (Retd) Talat Masood said Donald Trump’s decision is against international law, it is against all humanitarian principles.

“It is extremely wrong on their part to recognize Israel’s control over the occupied Golan,” the analyst added.

He said it is an aggression which is being condoned and reinforced by this American position so 'I think that the world should condemn that and I think America' should reverse its decision.

Talat Masood was of the view that the US decision has completely demoralized the Muslim world and antagonizes them.

“It is not only the question of Palestine it is a question human rights, it is the question of the dignity of the Muslims and rights of the people of Palestine,” noted the analyst.

US President Donald Trump has recently signed a proclamation recognizing Zionist regime's sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

Earlier Trump in a tweet had said: After 52 years it is time for the United States to fully recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

The fact is that the Golan is Syrian territory illegally occupied by Zionist regime and recognized by the world as such.

Pakistan Foreign Ministry in a statement had called upon the UN Security Council to take cognizance of this situation and take steps in accordance with the UN Charter.

Spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Bahram Qasemi had stated that the impetuous personal decision of US President is pushing the sensitive region of the Middle East toward consecutive crises.
