5th of the Iranian month of Ordibehesht marks the anniversary of failure of the US military operation in Tabas Desert. In this act of aggression, the US utterly failed. Today, we elaborate on the reasons behind the continuation of US officials' hostility toward Islamic Iran.
The Tabas incident was in fact part of the US military plot for freeing the American spies, who were carrying out espionage operations and plotting schemes for somehow toppling the sacred Islamic system. The espionage activities of the former US embassy in Tehran were revealed upon the revolutionary measures of Iranian students, and the takeover of the US spy den by them on November 4, 1979, and the discovery of hundreds of documents which disclosed the former US embassy personnel's espionage operations.
The US had plotted a military operation against Iran to somehow contain this scandal and to end the takeover of the US spy den in Tehran, but to no avail.
The American commandoes had been sent to Arizona and had been trained in a bid to precisely carry out the US plot in Iran, upon entry to Tabas Desert. To this end, the US officials established an especial 132-strong group, named "Delta Force" to free the American hostages.
The US military attack in Tabas Desert was referred to as Operation Eagle Claw.
On April 24, 1980, six American planes and eight choppers violated Iran's airspace in a futile bid to free 53 American spies in Tehran. Thereafter, one of the US choppers faced a technical fault and made an emergency landing; 120 kilometers from the city of Kerman; with the related chopper's passengers transferred to another helicopter; which also faced a technical fault and was forced to return to US warship.
In the meantime, six US planes and six US choppers reached Tabas desert, and landed in a remote region. However, at the time of fueling, one of the other helicopters faces a technical fault. So, even prior to commencement of military operations, three of the US choppers faced technical problems. After contacting their operations headquarters, the then US president, Jimmy Charter, orders the return of the American forces. However, concurrent with the takeoff of the American planes and choppers, a sandstorm hits Tabas desert, resulting in the collision of a US C-130 plane, and a US CH-130 chopper, later bursting into flames. In this incident, eight US troopers were burnt alive, and four choppers were grounded. the remaining US forces who were boarded in five planes, return to their aircraft carrier. Thus, the plotted US military operation turns out to be an utter failure.
The former US Secretary of Defense, Harold Brown, noted: "Eight US forces were killed in Tabas operations and the American hostages were not freed until the beginning of Ronald Reagan's presidential term in 1981."
The Tabas incident once again displayed the aggressive and invasive nature of the US regime.
The US military operation for liberation of American spies, once again showed the meddlesome goals of the US in Iran after the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
In fact, the end of domination of the US over Iran's vast oil deposits and strategic position, following the victory of Islamic Revolution, infuriated and devastated US regime. Hence, it was expected of the US to take measures against Islamic Iran, in a futile bid to somehow once again dominate Iran. the large-scale US espionage operations in Iran, and US unwavering support for Saddam's regime throughout the Iraqi imposed war were part of the US plots against the Iranian nation and sacred Islamic establishment.
Meanwhile, US behavioral pattern after Tabas incident proved that the US regime has not learned lessons from its failed plot. The fact of the matter is that US has remained hostile toward Iran. Currently, the US resentment and hostility toward the sacred Islamic system has taken new dimensions.
The US statesmen have confessed that they are against the sacred Islamic establishment, thereby targeting revolutionary and popular forces in Iran, and leveling baseless accusations against them.
The US continues to dream of once again dominating Iran. Meanwhile, the Iranian nation has always firmly stood up against US plots. One cannot expect amity from the US regime.
