Na'lbandan Bazaar: An Old Bazaar with Different Architecture in Gorgan

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Na'lbandan bazaar is a local bazaar in downtown Gorgan, north of Iran, and is one of the city's historic places.

Local bazaars are one of the city's most popular attractions for tourists. The bazaar is a crowded and noisy place with very tasty and varied foods and vegetables.

In general, Golestan province has two local bazaars, one of them is located in Gorgan and the other one in Gonbad called Russia bazaar. These bazaars are located about 100 kilometers from each other.

This bazaar is one of the great centers of presentation of all kinds of native and non-native products. Its handicraft products, especially Turkmen handmade, are so famous in this bazaar.

Gorgan's old bazaar is one of the most beautiful bazaars in northern Iran in terms of architectural style. According to available evidence, this bazaar dates back to the 375 AHS. The Jammeh mosque that is located next to the bazaar, is the oldest in the city.

There is an alley in the bazaar that the shops of the bazaar are located on either side of this alley. The Na'lbandan Bazaar has several Rasteh (there is an alley in the bazaar that the shops of the bazaar are located on either side of this alley.) that connected by sub-Rasteh.

There are about 150 shops in this bazaar. Also, there are famous monuments in this bazaar, for example, Qazi Persian Bath, Jammeh Mosque, Old Tekyehes, Ab Anbar and Mohammad Shah Mansion.

You can buy fresh produce in this bazaar except for handicrafts, such as fresh fruits, local vegetables, and local fresh fishes. One of the main items in this bazaar is clothing. This bazaar is one of the major textile wholesalers. As the province has the most cultural and ethnic diversity, the variety of handicrafts and foods in this bazaar are also so different.

Gorgan Palace Museum North of Iran

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Gorgan Museum is located in one of the 12 Pahlavi era (1925-1979) palaces in Iran and was opened in 1964 to house the items uncovered during excavations of various archeological sites in the area.

The museum operated with a collection of 152 items until 1982. Following 
renovation efforts, the museum was reopened in 2009.

Gorgan Palace is a two-story structure built in the European style of 
architecture.

The first floor of the museum has displays dedicated to 30 prominent 
figures from Golestan Province. The second floor showcases 100 
items which previously belonged to the Pahlavi family.

There are several tomb stones dating from the 9th to 19th century 
displayed in the courtyard of the palace. The museum also has an 
archeology hall in which a host of items datable to 5,000- to 
150-years-ago.
