US President Donald Trump flooded social media with bizarre AI imagery portraying himself as a superhero and conqueror while issuing threats against Iran.

For several hours on Sunday, the social media account of the president of the United States became a stream of AI-generated fantasies involving giant robots, superheroes, territorial claims, historical figures, renaming campaigns and threats of military destruction.
Donald Trump posted more than 37 times over the course of the spree, according to a review of his Truth Social activity, with many of the posts placing the 80-year-old president himself at the center of increasingly fantastical scenes.
Trump appeared on horseback towering over George Washington. Another image showed Washington visiting him in the Oval Office.
He appeared commanding a futuristic robot army, piloting a spacecraft and with his face superimposed on the body of late professional wrestler Hulk Hogan.
Another post presented an image of the Moon beside a US flag with a simple declaration:
“The Moon is Ours.”
Then there was Iran.
Trump posted a map in which the shape of the country appeared transformed into the outline of his own face. Another AI-generated image depicted an Iranian oil facility engulfed in flames as a fighter jet approached.
“Bye bye, Kharg,” it read.
The extraordinary sequence blurred memes, presidential messaging and military threats at a moment when the United States is engaged in an actual war with Iran.
Iran in Trump’s Image
Seven of Trump’s posts within roughly one hour focused specifically on Iran.
The strangest began with his own face. Trump shared a map in which his side profile was superimposed onto the outline of Iran, giving the US president’s features the geographical shape of the country Washington has been fighting since February.
The image followed another recent suggestion from Trump that the Strait of Hormuz should be renamed “Trump Strait.”
He later indicated that the proposal was not necessarily serious. But it formed part of a broader series of renaming suggestions that continued during Sunday’s spree.
Trump proposed changing New Mexico to “NEW AMERICA,” declaring the suggested name “So much more prestigious and beautiful.”
New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham rejected the proposal, saying the state’s name “isn’t up for debate.”
‘The Moon Is Ours’
Trump’s geographical ambitions then moved beyond Earth. One of his posts showed the Moon with an American flag and declared: “The Moon is Ours.”
The declaration has no basis in international law. The 1967 Outer Space Treaty, to which the United States is a party, prohibits national appropriation of the Moon and other celestial bodies through sovereignty claims, occupation or other means.
Elsewhere in the posting barrage, Trump depicted himself piloting a spaceship and commanding futuristic robots.
Another AI-generated image placed him on horseback alongside George Washington, while a separate scene imagined the first US president visiting Trump in the Oval Office.
Trump also shared an apparently AI-generated concept for a Space Force uniform whose futuristic appearance prompted online comparisons with science-fiction films.
Enter Green Lantern
The surreal imagery was not confined to Trump’s personal account. The official White House account joined in.
On Sunday, it released an AI-generated video transforming the US president into Green Lantern, the DC Comics superhero whose magical ring gives its wearer extraordinary powers.
The video depicted Trump raising a glowing green ring before using its fictional powers to erect a border wall. It subsequently showed American factories, warships and fighter aircraft.
The White House accompanied the video with part of the Green Lantern oath, ending with the superhero’s invocation of “Green Lantern’s light.”
Trump’s own posts similarly depicted him commanding giant futuristic machines, alongside messages including “GIVE THEM NIGHTMARES” and “THEY WILL DREAM OF US FOREVER.”
‘Bye Bye, Kharg’
But mixed into the superhero imagery and AI fantasies were threats carrying potentially real military consequences.
Trump shared an AI-generated image of a fighter jet heading toward a burning oil installation.
“Bye bye, Kharg,” the image declared.
Kharg Island is Iran’s principal crude-export hub and one of the country’s most strategically important pieces of energy infrastructure.
It was not Trump’s first AI depiction of its destruction.
On August 30, Trump posted an AI-generated video under the caption, “Kharg Island being blown to smithereens!!! President DJT.”
No such attack had occurred. Vice President JD Vance subsequently said Trump was “sending a message to the Iranians.”
The earlier fake depiction had consequences beyond social media. Reuters reported that Trump’s claim that Kharg had been destroyed briefly pushed oil prices nearly 2 percent higher before a US official confirmed that American forces had not attacked the island.
Currency, Oil and ‘Failing Nation’
Sunday’s seven-post Iran barrage also contained more conventional propaganda about the economic impact of the war.
Trump posted graphics declaring “IRAN’S OIL EXPORTS ARE CRASHING!”, “IRAN HAS HYPERINFLATION” and “Iran’s Currency is DESTROYED.”
One showed the rial at more than 2.27 million to the US dollar.
Another declared that oil volumes through the Strait of Hormuz were “BACK!” and claimed flows had reached 18 million barrels per day, compared with 20 million before the war.
The sequence concluded with another map of Iran carrying the words:
“Iran is a Failing Nation!”
Iranian officials have acknowledged severe economic difficulties but rejected Trump’s contention that US pressure will determine Tehran’s decisions.
The weekend’s material was also part of a succession of unusual AI posts from Trump. Only days earlier, he shared an AI-generated video depicting Canada geese sporting Trump-like hairstyles and carrying machine guns in defense of Lake Ontario, amid his push to rename the body of water “Lake America.”
The posts prompted widespread ridicule and criticism online, with opponents and some commentators describing the behavior as abnormal and raising questions about the appropriateness of such imagery from the presidency.
