TEHRAN (Tasnim) – People in Jordan, Morocco and Mauritania staged rallies on Friday to condemn the resumption of the Israeli genocidal war against the Gaza Strip.
In Amman, Jordan’s capital, hundreds took to the streets in a demonstration to voice solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza who endure deadly attacks.
Speeches demanded that the international community urgently act and stop Israel's war crimes in Gaza, according to Anadolu.
Jordanian parliamentarian Ahmed Al-Reqeb, who joined the demonstration, urged his government to sever ties with Israel and cancel a peace agreement.
In Morocco, thousands participated in rallies in cities across the Kingdom
The solidarity rallies were organized after Friday prayers in several cities, including the northern cities of Meknes, Al-Hoceima, Tetouan and Fez, in the western cities of Casablanca and El-Jadida, and the eastern cities of Taza, Oujda and Taourirt.
In Mauritania, hundreds rallied in the capital, Nouakchott, in protest of Israeli aggression on Gaza, during which they waved Palestinian flags and chanted in support of the Palestinian resistance.
Meanwhile, an Anadolu correspondent said 37 Mauritanian parliamentarians handed a letter Thursday to the chargé d'affaires of the US Embassy in Mauritania, John Ice, holding the American government responsible for the genocide in Gaza.
More than 700 Palestinians have been killed and over 900 injured in a surprise aerial campaign by Israel on Gaza since Tuesday, shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January.
Nearly 50,000 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and more than 112,000 injured in a brutal Israeli military onslaught on Gaza since October 2023.
The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former defense minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
