TEHRAN –Iranian actress Narges Mohammadi was picked as best actress for her role in “Wind of Change” at the 10th edition of the Silk Road International Film Festival (SRIFF) in Fuzhou, China the organizers announced on Thursday.
Directed by Abbas Rafei, “Wind of Change” is about Sara, who one day finds out that her husband is missing. She and her teenage daughter are left without anyone to rely on. Along with one of the neighbors, they begin desperately seeking him.
Narges Mohmmadi, Fariba Naderi, Hana Harandi, Hedieh Bazvand, Mohammad Reza Sharifinia, Maryam Bubani, and Sam Nuri play in the 86-minute movie that is a 2023 production.
Chinese drama “Gone with the Boat” was named the best film and its director Xiaoyu Chen received the award for best new director.
"Journey of Perseverance" directed by French director Nicolas Philibert received the best documentary award, while “Chang'an Thirty Thousand Miles”, co-directed by Xie Junwei and Zou Jing, won the best animation award.
The Silk Road International Film Festival (SRIFF) was founded by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television in 2014 to comprehensively implement China’s national strategy of The Belt and Road Initiative.
It aims to promote cultural exchanges and cooperation among countries along The Belt and Road routes and to further develop the Chinese audiovisual industry.
SRIFF is held annually (alternating every year between the cities of Xi’an and Fuzhou) and is co-sponsored by the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government and Fujian Provincial People’s Government.
SRIFF is divided into the following sections and a mutable number of special presentations: Competition, Film Panorama, Film Forum, Film Market, Interactive Activities.
