US-Israeli war on Iran seeks to 'reshape West Asia, block creation of Palestinian state': Omani FM

Oman’s Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidy said on 12 March that the US-Israeli war being waged against the Islamic Republic of Iran aims to “reshape the region” and advance normalization with Tel Aviv.

“The goal is not limited to the nuclear issue. It also aims to weaken Iran, reshape the region, advance the normalization agenda, prevent the creation of a Palestinian state and weaken those who support that project,” Al-Busaidy said.

“Many regional parties are aware of this, but they are betting that aligning with the US may lead Washington to reconsider some of its decisions and policies,” he added.

The Omani Foreign Minister also said Washington will not be able to achieve concessions from Iran through waging war.

Al-Busaidy said that the war could end soon, but that countries should prepare themselves for the “worst possibilities.”

“The Sultanate of Oman will not enter the Peace Council and will not normalize with Israel,” he went on to say, referring to US President Donald Trump’s ‘Board of Peace.’

Before striking Iran in the middle of negotiations for the second time in a year, Washington was demanding zero uranium enrichment, an end to the Iranian nuclear and missile programs, and an end to Tehran’s support for resistance groups in the region. Iran refused the terms.

In November 2025, Busaidy said, “Israel, not Iran, is the prime source of insecurity in the region.”

The foreign minister’s latest comments come as the Islamic Republic has continued to successfully launch heavy ballistic missile attacks on Israel and US bases and assets across the region, including energy infrastructure and tankers attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz in violation of Iranian warnings.

Iranian forces hit a US-owned oil tanker in the northern Persian Gulf on Wednesday night, causing a massive blast.

Yet Tehran has denied a drone strike on fuel tanks at Oman’s Salalah Port, which also took place on Wednesday.

Iranian officials denied involvement but said they would investigate.

Spokesman for Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces said the incident that occurred at the Port of Salalah in g Oman appears “highly suspicious,” adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran is currently investigating the matter and reaffirming that the security and sovereignty of the Sultanate of Oman are respected by Iran’s army.

Another recent strike on an oil facility in Saudi Arabia was denied by Tehran and labeled an “Israeli false-flag.”
