The 88-member elected body of religious scholars and legal experts announced on Sunday night (March 8) that Seyyed Mojtaba, 56, has been elected as the third Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Seyyed Mojtaba is the son of the martyred Leader, Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The Rahbar was martyred in a joint US-zionist missile strike on his house and office on February 28.
It was a terrorist act carried out by the world’s top terrorists, Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu.
Severe punishment awaits these war criminals in the near future.
The Assembly of Experts is the elected body tasked with electing a successor if the leader is incapacitated or martyred.
“By a decisive vote, the Assembly of Experts appointed Ayatullah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as the third Leader of the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” it said in a statement.
The announcement was issued by the Secretariat of the Assembly of Experts.
While there were other contenders for the top leadership position, some senior in age to Seyyed Mojtaba, the Assembly seems to have taken the following factors into consideration.
Seyyed Mojtaba lost both his parents (father and mother), his wife, sister and sister-in-law and a niece in the US-zionist criminal strike.
There was much sympathy for him over his great loss.
Being a Seyyed gave him a certain advantage since belonging to the family of the Prophet (ﷺ) is highly revered, especially among Shia Muslims.
He had served in several campaigns in the Iraq-Iran war (1980-1988) and had a long experience of the war.
The Assembly described Ayatullah Mojtaba Khamenei as a jurist of comprehensive qualifications—a just faqih, insightful historian, astute politician, practical scholar, ascetic, pious, and resourceful administrator.
These qualities eminently suited him to guide the sacred system through this critical historical juncture.
The decision also seems to have been an act of defiance against the terrorist and war criminal Trump.
He had asserted last week that he would have a say in who will be the new leader of Iran.
Trump had spoken out against Ayatullah Mojtaba Khamenei.
This was Iran’s response to the nonsensical statement by the convicted felon and sex predator and a tight slap on his face.
Seyyed Mojtaba’s election also signals that the Islamic Republic will continue its valiant defence and deliver massive blows to the imperialist and zionist war criminals.
The new leader’s relative youth is also an advantage. His presence at the helm will ensure stability and continuity.
Pledges of allegiance from the various institutions started to pour in as soon as his election as Leader was announced.
His father, the late Ayatullah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, was 49 when elected as the Supreme Leader to succeed Imam Khomeini in June 1989.
He guided the Islamic Republic for nearly 37 years before he was martyred by the arch terrorists Trump and Netanyahu.
