Head of Association of Muslim Scholars in Lebanon Sheikh Ghazi Hunaina stated that Iran’s support for resistance movements in Palestine and Lebanon is not a political tactic but a religious, ideological, and humanitarian stance.

Speaking at the second international webinar titled “Islamic Iran: The Front of Islamic Dignity Against the Zionist Regime”, organized by the Qadimun World Forum, Hunaina emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran has been the main pillar of support for the oppressed in the region and has remained committed to the Palestinian cause since the beginning of the Islamic movement.
He noted that Iran, even before the Islamic Revolution under the leadership of Imam Khomeini, openly backed the Palestinian resistance. Following the Revolution, this support continued in a serious and practical manner, becoming a real threat to the existence of the Zionist regime.
Hunaina added that Iran’s stance on resistance—whether in Palestine or Lebanon—has been enshrined in the Constitution of the Islamic Republic and reiterated by all presidents and senior commanders over the past four decades.
Expressing regret that many Arab governments have distanced themselves from the Palestinian issue, he stressed that while some Arab states have abandoned the Palestinian people, the Islamic Republic of Iran—through its leadership, people, IRGC, army, and government—works tirelessly to restore the rights of Palestinians.
The Lebanese cleric further underlined that Iran has never claimed to decide on behalf of the Palestinians, insisting instead that it is the Palestinian people themselves who must determine the future of their land.
