
The meeting was held in the presence of Mahmoud Heidari, Director General for Mediterranean and Eastern Europe at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Thessaly Chambous, Director General for Politics at the Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, which was held with the participation of the Cypriot Ambassador to Tehran, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations in various fields, emphasized the continuation of political consultations between the two countries, and exchanged views on areas for strengthening relations between them in the economic and cultural fields.
Referring to the long-standing political relations between the two countries, Heidari emphasized the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to strengthen cooperation and develop relations with Cyprus.
He considered the Cyprus presidency of the European Union, which begins at the beginning of the new year, as a suitable opportunity for Cyprus to play a constructive role in facilitating communications between Iran and the European Union.
The Director General of Political Affairs of the Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs, referring to the geopolitical importance of Iran and its important role in regional developments, stated that Cyprus seeks to maintain and strengthen friendly relations with Iran.
During the talks, the two sides discussed and exchanged views on regional issues and international developments, including the continuation of the genocide of Palestinians by Israel, the Israeli regime's war-mongering in the region, and aggression against Lebanon and Syria, as well as the conflict in Ukraine.
