APA political committee meeting convenes in Mashhad

Mashhad, IRNA – The Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) political committee meeting has begun, with representatives from 15 countries participating in Mashhad, Razavi Khorasan Province, northeastern Iran.

The Thursday event brings together 15 parliamentary delegations from across Asia, including Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cambodia, China, Cyprus, Lebanon, Palestine, Pakistan, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkiye, the UAE, and Uzbekistan.

The head of the Iranian parliamentary delegation to the Asian Parliamentary Assembly announced that the political committee will review nine resolutions during this international meeting. Additionally, a special session dedicated to supporting the Palestinian people is included in the agenda. The resolutions address various topics, including the role of parliaments in promoting good governance, upholding the rule of law, fostering prosperity in Asia, and encouraging development and cooperation among Asian governments and parliaments.

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf made the remarks at the meeting of the political committee of the APA, adding that an awakened and aware Asia will be the driving force behind a new and just global order.

“Supporting multilateralism should be on the agenda of Asian parliaments to strengthen the unified voice of Asia,” he added.

The Asian Parliamentary Assembly was founded in 2006 at the 7th session of the Association of Asian Parliamentary for Peace (AAPP), which was established in 1999.
