NOURNEWS – Netanyahu, who is facing internal pressures and global condemnations, has this time initiated a new war scenario with a suspicious attack on the Metula settlement. The widespread attacks on South Lebanon demonstrate that Israel is not only disregarding the ceasefire but also seeking to escalate tensions to escape its internal crisis.

Following the unilateral cancellation of the ceasefire in Gaza by the Zionist regime and the resumption of the killing of Palestinian women and children, a wave of global condemnations against Israel emerged. European countries, which had previously taken a cautious approach to Tel Aviv's crimes, explicitly condemned Israel's renewed attacks on Palestinian civilians. Under these circumstances, Netanyahu, who is under increasing internal and international pressure, is seeking to create a new scenario to legitimize his aggressive actions. The suspicious rocket attack on the Metula settlement in northern occupied Palestine was precisely the pretext that Tel Aviv needed to expand the war and shift public opinion.
A Pre-Planned Map?
Israel had been planning to exit the ceasefire conditions in Gaza and Lebanon for some time. The recent attack on the Metula settlement, for which no group has claimed responsibility, suggests that this action is more of a scenario designed by Israel itself or unknown groups to justify Tel Aviv's warmongering, rather than an actual attack by the resistance. Hezbollah in Lebanon immediately denied any connection to the attack and emphasized that Israel does not need a pretext to continue its aggressions. Nevertheless, Netanyahu took advantage of the opportunity to launch heavy attacks against South Lebanon, portraying them as defensive measures.
Escalation; From Internal Crisis to External War
Netanyahu has been facing multiple crises in recent months. On the one hand, internal protests against his extremist policies have intensified, and on the other hand, corruption cases and international pressure to stop the war in Gaza have put him in a difficult position. Accepting a ceasefire with Hamas and the Lebanese resistance has led to hardline factions in the Israeli cabinet and society accusing him of weakness and compromise. In such an atmosphere, creating a new military conflict in Lebanon could provide an opportunity for Netanyahu to declare a state of emergency and escape internal pressures and potential prosecution.
Is a New War on the Horizon?
Israel's recent attacks on South Lebanon demonstrate that it has no intention of maintaining calm in the region. The regime's warplanes have targeted areas such as Tyre, Jebaa, and Touline, the Halousiyeh village, Deir Qanoun al-Nahr, the Wadi al-Zahrani region, the Hosh Al-Sayyed village in the Beqaa Valley, and the Al-Qasr village in the Hermel district, in aerial attacks over the past two days.
The surroundings of the Saksakiyeh village in South Lebanon were also targeted by the Zionist forces. The Lebanese Al-Akhbar news website reported that the Mokhayber bridge on the Lebanon-Syria border crossing was hit.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that one person was martyred and seven others were injured in an Israeli aerial attack on the city of Tyre in southern Lebanon.
The Zionist regime's attacks have so far resulted in several martyrs and injured individuals. In response, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, warned that the only party that would benefit from dragging Lebanon into conflict is the Zionist regime.
In reality, Netanyahu is trying to convey the message that Israel is a victim of an unwanted war, while the truth is exactly the opposite. The unilateral cancellation of the ceasefire in Gaza, the killing of civilians, and now the escalation of the conflict to Lebanon, all indicate that Tel Aviv is deliberately seeking to intensify tensions in order to continue its warmongering policies.
Israel has once again demonstrated that it will use any pretext to escalate conflict in the region. The suspicious rocket attack on the Metula settlement was merely a tool to justify new attacks on Lebanon, just as Netanyahu's unilateral cancellation of the ceasefire in Gaza provided a pretext for continuing his crimes. While many countries around the world, including European governments, have condemned Tel Aviv's recent atrocities, Netanyahu is attempting to create a new war to position himself on the defensive and reduce internal and international pressure. However, the reality is clear: in the current situation, the only party that benefits from war in Lebanon and Gaza is the Zionist regime and Netanyahu himself.
