Tehran, IRNA – Senior Iraqi figures have participated in a ceremony to commemorate Iranian Major General Qassem Soleimani and Iraq’s Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.
The ceremony was held in Iran’s embassy in Baghdad on the eve of the 3rd martyrdom anniversary of the two top commanders who lost their lives in a US drone attack in Baghdad in January 2020.
Speaking during the ceremony, Iran’s Ambassador to Iraq Mohammad Kazem Al-e Sadeq said that creating peace, stability and security were among the main goals of these two martyrs.
Local media reported that a delegation of Ulema from the released Iraqi areas went to the tomb of Martyr al-Muhandis and paid tribute to the commanders of victory.
Two commemoration ceremonies were also held in Basra and Baghdad.
