Russia's stance matters on efforts to end Gaza war: Iran MP

Tehran, IRNA – A senior Iranian legislator has underlined that the stance adopted by the Russian Federation with regards to the situation in Gaza can play an important role in efforts aimed at securing an end to the conflict.

Mojtaba Zonnour, who serves the Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, made the remark in a meeting with Dmitry Yuryevich Vasilenko, head of the group on cooperation between the Federation Council and the Islamic Consultative Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in Tehran on Monday.

Zonnour said in the meeting that the Israeli regime is not only a threat to the West Asia region but also a danger to entire humanity.

According to the Iranian lawmaker, Tehran and Moscow enjoy numerous commonalities and have common foes, adding that Palestine is one of the issues that both Iran and Russia share a common stance on as he welcomed Kremlin’s stance on the need to put an end to the war in Gaza.

At the end of the meeting, Vasilenko handed over a message to Zonnour from Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin that was addressed to the Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.
