The Gambler Plays His Last Card, But the Die is Already Cast Against the US

Today, on the 19th of August in 1953, in the aftermath of World War 2, when the West Asian region was still grappling with the twilight of colonialism, the US, as the new superpower, was lured into oil-rich Iran by the wily British to overthrow the democratically-elected but weak and indecisive government of Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mosaddeq that had alienated itself from the Muslim masses by its wrong attitude towards the popular leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Abu’l-Qasim Kashani – in addition to misplaced trust in the yet-to-be discovered untrustworthy Uncle Sam.

Operation Ajax was a thus cakewalk, and all it required of Washington to bring back to Tehran the fugitive British-installed Mohammad Reza Pahlavi for use as a handy milk cow was to distribute a fistful of dollars amongst thugs and mercenary military officers.

Today 65 years later – 40 years after the US was kicked out from Iran by the people’s grassroots movement led by that Sage of Age, Imam Khomeini (RA) – the bloodied and bruised US, faced with humiliating defeats on all fronts in the region by states and masses inspired by the Islamic Republic of Iran and alarmed at the prospects of losing to the wheel of history the two remaining milk cows (Saudi Arabia and UAE), is making a futile bid to stay in the region.

And what a fantasy it has come up with! To firm up the drooping hearts of the tribal and tyrannical British created regimes in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, which will collapse the moment the US is kicked out from the region, it has set up a so-called Iran Action Group at the State Department in Washington for what it calls the rolling back of Iranian influence and if possible change of government in Tehran – the first results of which is the hundred-million dollars doled out by the Saudis as initial payment for funding and arming thousands of terrorists flourishing in northeastern Syria under the illegal presence of the US.

If wishes were horses the dotard Donald Trump would be the emperor of Planet Earth, with the gangster Mike Pompeo and the mustachioed bozo John Bolton among his bejeweled courtiers, literally gulping billions of barrels of crude oil and inhaling trillions of cubic meters of natural gas of the ‘jewel’ in the American crown – the reconquered Iran run by the terrorist MKO clique and subservient to the regional satrap, Israel.

Dreams, however, are nothing more than dreams. Neither we are living in the Iran of 1953 when Mohammad Reza was re-installed with a "yes sir, I am at your service” salute to his new masters, the Americans, nor in the Iran of 1925 when the British conveniently replaced the Qajarid dynasty with an illiterate soldier of obscure origin named Reza Khan, and then the moment he erred in thinking he was an independent sovereign, they caught him by the scruff of his neck and threw him on the island of Mauritius to die in exile in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Islamic Iran, with its popular religious system of government led by the farsighted Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and supported by scores of millions of masses, is an impregnable fortress whose outposts in the region are so powerful that no amount of Saudi money or the American and Zionist weaponry can overpower them in Lebanon, Yemen, Syria and elsewhere.

So what to do? With the change of government in Tehran out of question, let’s take a big gamble as they do in the casinos of Las Vegas for a make-up and break-up bid through bluster, through sanctions on paper that never work, through threats to the free world to stop trade with Iran that never materialize, through appeal to a few misled elements to indulge in vandalism that quickly backfires, and through tweets to browbeat some faint-hearted officials to enter into talks that will never take place in view of the Leader’s absolute banning of such worthless negotiations.

Thus, in order to lift the sagging spirits of the rootless but rich regimes in the Persian Gulf which are ready to pay the last of their petro-dollar to the US for survival, Syria could be the ideal place for more mischief and more blood, since stability in the Levant means is a nightmare for the illegal Zionist entity, whose days seem to be numbered. 

As the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates told SANA yesterday the Saudi aid to the "criminal US-led coalition” comes in defiance of UN Security Council resolutions, and a bid "to fragmentize the region and impose Zionist hegemony on all countries.”

In the words of Mohammed Ali al-Houthi of the Revolutionary Command Council of Yemen, Saudi Arabia’s latest multi-million dollar gift to the US for revitalizing Takfiri and other terrorists in Syria, is "admission of Riyadh’s defeat in the face of the Islamic Republic of Iran”.

To be more precise, the Wahhabi regime in Riyadh afraid of sending its soldiers to graves in Syria, is ready to dole out many millions or perhaps billions of dollars to the US to recruit mercenaries to try to keep that country in turmoil, since there is no hope of victory against forces trained by the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The US is aware of ground realities. Thus, in order to milk the reactionary Arab cows to the last drop of milk, is indulging in propaganda against Tehran through such worthless bodies as the so-called Iran Action Group, while resorting to every dirty trick up its sleeve to avert the inevitable end of Israel by entrenching itself in Syria through Arab money and Arab terrorists, without deploying fighting force of its own that will end in body bags coming home.

World will never forget Palestinian map

Today, the Americans, the elements in the Zionist regime, itself, and some weak-willed governments, which are obedient to the US, think that by establishing overt or covert diplomacy with the Zionist regime, they can solve some problems. --This is not the case. The problems caused by the Zionist regime will not be solved by the existence or non-existence of a diplomatic relationship with other governments. It is not the case that problems initiated by the Zionist regime will be resolved should two, three governments – more or less – establish relations with it or break the taboo of establishing relations with "Israel" and join hands with it. The Zionist regime's biggest problem stems from its lack of legitimacy: the Zionist regime is illegitimate; the formation of this regime is based on a lie. Zionists expelled a people from their country by force, via massacres and threats, and with the help of armed forces: they did this to a historical nation. The Palestinian nation is not an illegitimate or newly-emerged nation: the same is true of the country of Palestine. Are they able to eliminate Palestine's map from the historical-geographical memory of the world? Is this possible? Even if they force several weak-willed countries in the Middle-Eastern region into establishing diplomatic relations with the Zionist regime, this will not solve their problem: the source of their problems stems from lack of legitimacy. The Zionist regime's foundations in the region are shaky, unstable, and faulty: this is not something wherein the key to solving matters are in the hands of other government officials. The people's emotions in some of the countries, which happen to have a long history of friendly relations with the Zionist regime – I will not mention which countries, are getting much tenser towards the Zionist regime than other countries. The overall concern rest with several nations.

The Zionist regime's lack of legitimacy has been carved into the hearts of the Islamic Ummah and this is not erasable. They will not be able to solve this problem with the efforts of the White House and by transferring the US embassy to Quds and other such actions. This problem is unsolvable. And without doubt, by Allah's favor and with the determination of Muslim nations, this regime – which has been created on the basis of falsehood – will be completely destroyed. Like all free countries in the world, the people of Palestine – real Palestinians – should be asked for their opinions: this includes Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews. Those who are Palestinian – not those who have entered Palestine from other places – should be asked to express their opinions. The votes of those who are Palestinian should become a point of reference. They should be asked to give their opinions. It is they who should determine the government of the country of Palestine. Then, that government will make a decision on those who have entered the region unlawfully – the Zionists, their leaders, and the rest. There is no other way to heal Palestine, and this also provokes the annihilation of the evil and illegitimate Zionist regime which, unfortunately, has power today. By Allah's favor and grace, this [end of the Zionists regime] will definitely happen in the not-too-distant future – one cannot set a date for this time to come, it will happen. And when it happens, Muslim nations will manage to achieve unity in the region, God willing.

Sunni and Shi‘a brothers in faith, travel to Iran

The following is an account of a recent trip to Iran undertaken by a group of Sunni and Shia Muslims from the UK. Written by Dr Muhammad Adrees

My experience of this journey to the Islamic Republic of Iran started with a mild anxiety and fear. By the way the media constantly portrayed Iran, in the back of my mind, I was going to a country where the health services would not be up to international standards, the people uneducated and sectarianism rife. I travelled with a group of scholars from different Islamic schools of thought. Everyone was an expert in their own denomination. I personally have a basic level of knowledge of Islam but my heart is full of respect for all the scholars. I was eager to learn from everyone in order to understand how I might be able to bring the Ummah of my beloved Prophet closer together. Our journey from London to Tehran was very comfortable and enjoyable. We landed in Tehran in the early hours and travelled to an excellent hotel. Our first meeting was in Tehran with the Vice President to the University of Religions and Denominations (URD), Dr Yahya Jahangiri, who gave us an overview about the university. It was very impressive to know that this university produces scholars in all denominations of Islam and they provide guidance to Muslims all over the world. Unity of Muslims across the world was the main theme of the meeting. The Pakistani delegates of the group were keen to know more about Iran’s stance with regards to oppressed Kashmiri citizens. There were also questions about Iran’s involvement in the Syrian conflict and a dialogue on the ways of improving Pakistan – Iran bilateral relationship. Later during the day, we visited the world’s sixth tallest tower, the Milad tower, and also took in some Iranian architectural sights.

Some of my friends in the UK had told me that in Tehran the Sunni Muslims have no mosque and they are not allowed to practice Islam in accordance with their tradition. It was a pleasant surprise when the coach driver parked the coach in front of the three-storey Sadeghiyeh mosque in the west of Tehran. The Imam, Maulana Aziz Ahmed, led the evening prayer and our hosts joined the congregation too. Molana Aziz informed us that on Friday his mosque is attended by two to three thousand worshippers. He also said that there were at least fifteen similar Sunni mosques in Tehran alone. In addition, there are about two hundred small places providing education and prayer facilities to Sunni Muslims. Our meeting with the head of Iran’s Hajj mission, Hujjatul Islam Maulana Qazi Askar was informative and this was a moment of happiness for all of us when he broke the news that this year 86,000 (16,000 Sunni Muslims and 70,000 Shia Muslims) would be going on the Hajj pilgrimage from Iran. Our hosts were very hospitable and served us fruits and Iranian tea. We had a tour of the Holy Qur’an Museum where we saw some very old pictures of the Holy Kaaba.

The visit to the Palace of the deposed last Shah of Iran made me realise that the impressive buildings and expensive furniture he owned had no effect on lifting the nation. However, the visit to the simple but respectable accommodation of the late Imam Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini took my thoughts to the time of Iranian Revolution when the great leader led the nation to its destiny. There was a clear message that simplicity, spirituality and honesty, not wealth and power, win hearts and minds. We also met with Seyyed Hassan Khomeini (the grandson of late Imam Khomeini) I found his personality very impressive. Our host for lunch was the former ambassador to Pakistan Hujjatul Islam Seyyed Siraj Uddin Mousavi. Later, on the way to the City of Qum, we visited the shrine of the late Ayatollah Khomeini and offered our fatiha (prayer). We were very excited to travel to the city of Qum and felt blessed to visit the shrine of Lady Fatima Ma‘suma (the sister of Imam Ali Al Raza(a)) . The shrine was crowded with people showing their love and respect for the progeny of the beloved Prophet Muhammad(s). We also visited the Qum Historical Museum. Our afternoon meeting with the head of the Islamic Centre of England, Hujjatul Islam Dr Mohammad Ali Shomali proved very productive. We discussed diversity as a strong tool in serving the communities in the UK. Issues such as moon sighting in Ramadan, finding ways for Muslims residing in the UK be able to have the same day for Eid, the permissibility of using scientific calculations to determine the Eid days, were discussed.

We then visited the University of Religions and Denominations and met with the University’s Chancellor, Hujjatul Islam Syed Abul Hassan Nawab. We received a copy of the Fatawa (religious edicts) issued by renowned and respected Shi‘a scholars on the prohibition on disrespecting the companions and the wives of the Holy Prophet Muhammad(s). Our evening meeting in Qum took place at the seminary of Imam Musa Kazim(a). We also met with Hujjatul Islam Dr Mohammad Hasan Zamani, Vice-Chancellor for International Affairs at Qom Seminary as well as other personalities. The representative of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei for Kurdistan came to meet us at the same place. He explained how this institute is working to bring unity to the Muslim Ummah. The delegation also travelled to Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan province, via Hamadan. We took in the natural beauty alongside the good quality motorways. Our next stop at Hamadan was a well-designed restaurant at the top of a hill. I got a chance to enter a small hospital and was impressed by the cleanliness and relatively quiet emergency department.

After ten hours, we reached Sanandaj. We were advised to be ready in the morning to have a meeting in the library of Ayatollah Khamenei with Sunni scholars. The Sunni scholars talked about their positive quality of life and freedom to practice their rituals since the foundation of the Islamic Republic of Iran. We were then taken to visit a 300-year-old Sunni Friday prayer mosque. The mosque has a chain at its door and in the past, if someone entered the mosque via that door he or she would be protected by the state authorities. The mosque’s Chief Imam is a great scholar who delivered a beautiful sermon during Friday prayer. Once we completed the prayer we noticed that the respected Shi‘a Muslim scholars were also present in the congregation and that it was the first ever Friday prayer that had been marked together by Sunnis and Shi‘as in this great mosque. We were invited to the biggest university in Kurdistan where we met with the Governor of Kurdistan. It was amazing to know that Kurdistan has a literacy rate of around 90 percent, up from 30% since the Islamic Revolution. The journey from Sanandaj to Kermanshah airport by coach was a pleasant trip underneath a clear morning sky. We passed through the beautiful dry and green mountains across lands with very well designed irrigation systems. From Kermanshah airport, we flew for 90 minutes and landed in Mashhad. I was excited to visit the holy shrine of Imam Reza(a) where I expected to experience spiritual enlightenment. My heart and mind felt blessed at the shrine. For the duration that I was permitted to stay near the shrine of this great Imam, my soul filled with comfort and spiritual upliftment. At the dining area, I observed thousands of visitors being served food in a respectful way. I have not seen such discipline anywhere in the world. Adjacent to the compound to the holy shrine stands the university, funded through donations made by visitors to the shrine. We stayed in Mashhad for two nights and also enjoyed our visit to the Qur’an Museum and a traditional Iranian gym. The gym participants were enjoying a traditional exercise class. We left Mashhad with heavy hearts and prayers hoping to be able to visit this blessed city again. We flew back to Tehran and four of us managed to go to a shopping centre and see a few areas of this beautiful city. The level of cleanliness was good, public transport including trams were available at all times. The food was of good quality and economical. In summary, I enjoyed every minute of this spiritual and academic tour to the Islamic Republic of Iran. I would encourage other Muslim countries to organise similar tours to improve understanding across borders and lead to harmony and mutual respect. I learned how the Shi‘a Muslims and Sunni Muslims can stand shoulder to shoulder to bring peace and unity among the Muslims in Iran. Diversity is our strength and minor differences between Islamic denominations should never be allowed to divide us.

The Leader’s View of Unity Between the Shia and the Sunni

Today, one of the main goals of the arrogant powers and the US is to foment discord. And the best way to do so is to foment discord among Shia and Sunni Muslims. You can see what the mercenaries of the arrogant powers say today in regard to the issue of Iraq and what propaganda they spread. They think they can sow the seeds of discord this way. It has been many years that the arrogant powers and the Western expansionist powers have been following such policies. We should stay vigilant against these policies. We should be vigilant at all times and on all fronts. The conflict between the Shia and the Sunni is what the US truly desires. Muslim nations should stay vigilant and should not underestimate the enemy, its plots, or even its small moves. They should stay vigilant and awake. Today, Islamic nations and governments must get united and develop unanimity among themselves. I deem it necessary to warn our own nation, the Iraqi and Pakistani nations, and other Muslim nations that they need to act against religious conflicts and the conflict between the Shia and the Sunni. Today, I notice some groups who are - through an organized plot - trying to cause splits among Muslims in the name of Shia and Sunni. The massacres that take place, the explosions which happen in mosques and hussayniyyahs and during prayers are undoubtedly organized by the evil Zionists and arrogant powers. Such incidents are not organized by Muslims. We have information which indicates that the Zionists and the mercenaries of the enemies of Islam are either directly or indirectly involved in all the incidents which happen in different parts of the Muslim world - in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and other countries.

Of course, I do not mean to say that Shias should convert to Sunni Islam or Sunnis should convert to Shia Islam. I do not intend to say that all religions should be amalgamated into one religion. Rather, what I intend to say is that Shias and Sunnis should not make scientific efforts only to lend credence to their own beliefs. Making scientific efforts is a very good thing. There is nothing wrong with getting involved in such efforts. There are some people who reject all denominations in order to create unity among Muslims. However, this is not an appropriate solution. The solution is to prove the truth of the existing denominations. The followers of different denominations must continue doing their duties, and they must maintain friendly relations with the followers of other denominations. They ought to write scientific books within scientific settings, not non-scientific ones. We do not oppose those who can logically prove their arguments. But those who try to foment schism through their words, actions, and plots serve the enemies' interests. Both Sunnis and Shias should stay vigilant against such efforts. Everyone follows his own denomination and shows respect for his beliefs and moral values. This is a right that everyone deserves. However, respect for one's beliefs does not mean that one could offend against others' moral values. We all believe in Islam, the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.), and Kaaba. We all say prayers, go to Hajj, and believe in jihad and Sharia. The matters over which we disagree are much less than those we agree upon. The enemies of Islam are trying to foment schism among Shia and Sunni Muslims not only in Iran, but also in all parts of the Islamic world. Let me add a point here. You should not consider the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.) as a cause for disagreement among Sunni and Shia Muslims - or among the different Islamic sects. The Commander of the Faithful (a.s.) is the cause of unity and not discord among Muslims. Our brothers and sisters from across the country should believe in the fact that the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.) is the axis of unity among all Muslims. All Muslims are respectful towards him - whether they are Sunnis or Shias. There was a small group by the name of "Navasib" who were the enemies of the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.). Throughout the history of Islam - both during the era of the Umayyad dynasty and the Abbasid dynasty - there were groups of people who opposed Amir al-Mu'minin (a.s.). But the Majority of those who believe in Islam - both Shia and Sunni Muslims - praise the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.). If you take a look, you will see that the Sunni Imams who were experts in Islamic jurisprudence praised the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.) in their poems. Some of the famous poems about Amir al-Mu'minin (a.s.) have been composed by Al-Shafi'i. Al-Shafi'i has praised Imam Ali (a.s.) in his poems. Of course, this is not limited to Imam Ali (a.s.) only. Sunni Imams are respectful towards all the Imams. The high position of these prominent figures is known to us - Shia Muslims. Unfortunately, there are some people in the Muslim world who are ready to commit any crimes in order to form bonds with the US and other arrogant powers and foment schism among Shia and Sunni Muslims. Today, I can see some people in our neighboring countries who have planned to foment schism among Sunni and Shia Muslims, and followers of other religions, in order to pursue their own interests. Their efforts are aimed at pursuing their illegitimate interests in Muslim countries. We should stay vigilant against such efforts. Those who provoke Sunni Muslims against the Shia and Shia Muslims against the Sunnis support neither the Shia nor the Sunni. They are opposed to Islam. "Compassionate among themselves" [the Holy Quran 48: 29]. This means that Muslims should act kindly and mercifully towards one another. On the one hand, they advocate "Ghulat" and "Navasib" and say that Shias and Sunnis are enemies - unfortunately some religious fanatics believe such claims - and on the other hand, they tempt Shia Muslims to offend against the moral values and beliefs of the Sunnis. The enemies' plots are aimed at fomenting schism among Sunni and Shia Muslims. The enemies might follow plots which you are unaware of. Therefore, you should be aware of the enemies' plots and identify your enemies at all times. "And certainly thou canst recognize them by the tone of (their) speech." [The Holy Quran 47: 30]. You could even identify your enemies through their words.

We take pride in the fact that our people avoid ethnic quarrels and conflicts where there are ethnic or religious differences in the country, and where there is a possibility for such ethnic conflicts. This is what the enemies do not like. The conflict between Sunni and Shia Muslims is very important to the enemies of Islam. Differences and conflicts among the Islamic Ummah would undermine the spirituality, purity, power, grandeur, and national unity of Muslims, and as it is cited in the Holy Quran: "And [lest] your power depart." [The Holy Quran 8: 46]. One factor that could play a central role in this regard is the holy being of the Prophet (s.w.a.). Muslims and Islamic intellectuals should pay attention to and rely on the character and teachings of the Holy Prophet (s.w.a.) as a focal point.The issue of unity among Muslims should be taken seriously by all Islamic sects - Shias, Sunnis, ad followers of different Shia and Sunni sects. Today, Muslims should take the issue of Islamic unity seriously. The meaning of Islamic unity is evident. Unity is a vital need for all Muslims. It is not a trivial matter or a slogan only. All Islamic communities should get united and act as a unified front. Of course, unity is a complex issue. Creating unity is a complex process as well. Unity among Islamic communities means that Muslims should be tolerant of religious differences, the differences in their traditions and ways of life, and the differences in fiqh. Unity among Islamic nations signifies that Muslim nations should act as a unified front in regard to issues related to the Muslim world and assist one another. It also means that Muslim nations should not use their resources against one another.
