In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Sheikh Ahmad al-Qattan, head of Lebanon’s Qawluna wal Amal (Our Word and Action) Association, called unity among Muslims a central principle of Ayatollah Khamenei’s thought.
He said Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei viewed Islamic unity as both a religious obligation and a source of strength, consistently calling on Muslims to reject division and strengthen bonds of brotherhood.
Al-Qattan said Ayatollah Khamenei sought to promote solidarity rather than sectarianism, pointing to his well-known religious ruling prohibiting insults against the Prophet Muhammad’s companions and Sunni religious symbols as an example of His commitment to Muslim unity. He also cited Tehran’s conferences on Islamic unity as practical expressions of that approach.
The Lebanese cleric argued that the Muslim world’s greatest need today is greater cooperation based on shared values and resistance to division. He urged Muslims not to align themselves with global Zionism or arrogant powers, stressing the importance of preserving the unity of the Islamic community.
According to al-Qattan, Ayatollah Khamenei’s concept of resistance extended far beyond military action. He said resistance also includes intellectual work, education, scientific innovation, social activism, and cultural engagement, allowing individuals to contribute from their own fields.
The expert added that the martyred Iranian Leader consistently encouraged support for oppressed people, particularly in Palestine, Al-Quds, Gaza, and Lebanon.
Al-Qattan concluded that Ayatollah Khamenei’s assassination was intended to undermine those principles but would instead strengthen their place in the conscience of the Islamic nation.
